Default Supermarkets In Secret Talks To Introduce GM Foods

Kritters ,Can I say GM foods are bad or is that just one of my beliefs?
Can I say they are covering up the findings that GM corn causes Birth defects,Disease and Death in every animal they tested it on?

Quote:

The big supermarkets have held secret talks to pave the way for the introduction of controversial GM crops on to their shelves, industry sources said last night.
The stores banned GM ingredients more than ten years ago in response to public anxiety about their impact on human health and the environment.
But a source indicated that all the major supermarkets were involved in the discussions except Waitrose.

Multi-national giants have been involved in a wide-ranging campaign over the last year to suggest GM crops could be the solution to Third World hunger.
That notion was rejected by a UN study last year.
But the Government has ordered the Food Standards Agency to carry out a year-long spin campaign to win support for GM. Ear-this year Sir Terry Leahy, boss of Tesco, Britain's biggest supermarket, said supermarkets may have made the decision to reject GM products too hastily.

'It may have been a failure of us all to stand by the science,' he said.
'Maybe there is an opportunity to discuss again these issues and a growing appreciation by people that GM could play a vital role in feeding the world's growing population.'
The Government recently appointed former Labour MP and food minister Lord Jeff Rooker, an advocate of GM crops and food, as FSA chairman.
The National Farmers' Union has also put
pressure on stores and the Government to allow commercial planting of GM crops.

Former Unilever chief scientist professor Peter Lillford, chair of the Royal Society of Chemistry's food steering group, predicted that supermarkets would be forced into a Uturn on GM in an interview with Food Manufacture earlier this year.
'The higher yields obtained by the genetic modification of crops are believed to have saved millions of square miles of wildlife habitat from conversion to agricultural use,' he said.
Environment Secretary Hilary Benn said recently: 'If GM can make a contribution, then we have a choice as a society and as a world about whether to make use of that technology - and an increasing number of countries are growing GM products.'

But Emma Hockridge, a campaigner for the Soil Association, said: 'Proponents of GM technology have been claiming to be on the brink of developing a range of benefits for years, but these have not delivered. The claims of increased yields have been widely discredited. Once these GM crops are released into the environment, they will spread, and transfer GM traits to related native plants. Once released, they can never be recalled.'
Friends of the Earth's senior food campaigner, Clare Oxborrow, said the Government and big business appeared to be trying to brainwash the public into accepting 'Frankenstein Food'.
She said: 'During the 2002 GM debate the public delivered a resounding "no" to GM crops and foods. Ministers already know what the public think about GM but they don't like the answer.
'Research assessing the impact of growing GM crops in Britain found they were more damaging to farmland wildlife than traditional farming.'
Last night Tesco denied it was involved in talks to encourage the acceptance of GM foods. A spokesman said: 'Our position is we are led by customers and customers don't appear to want them at the moment.'

Dear me, Carla, since when do you need permission to say what you would like here on this forum? Please keep posting on issues which can affect our health as morgies (well this issue is beyond us to everyone who eats). BTW I just love the fact that the lie about increased yields with GM foods has been inserted in this article.

Hey Carla,

(It's so tough to be able to see posts through the constant big mouth laughing girl....who always has to get her green-clawed digs in....but I'll try to get my post through)

You can say anything you want. You're the moderator. And as the devil incarnate says, you don't need my permission. In addition, you are aware, or should be by now, that you and I agree on the subject of what is being done to our food. There is a time and place for all appropriate information. If the information given is for the purpose of helping others understand this disease and get better, the time and place is appropriate. If information is given that will galvanize posters and cause a free-for-all, then, you be the judge. You're the mod.

Uh, so, who exactly runs this forum? I thought it was Franky. Maybe not? Looks like one member is continously trying to tell Carla what she can or cannot do. So of this member this question is asked "And who are you?"

Yeah! we GOT IT! OUR GOVERNMENT IS TRYING TO KILL US! ENOUGH!!! I am just as aware of what's going on as you are, believe me. But that doesn't help anyone with Morgellons right now or how do deal with it.

Please do your moderator thing and mod yourself!

Kritters to Drucilla: I'm sure it has escaped you that Carla is a MODERATOR in fact THE moderator of this forum. "Running" a forum and "moderating" a forum are two different things. But that's okay. I understand that your head is probably submerged in your witches brew du jour, so you're no doubt in a hazy fog right now. But when your shriveled head clears, I'm sure you'll get back to that thang you do so well.....DISRUPTING AND ANTAGONIZING... Oh! my bad! You never really STOPPED!

I'll be ignoring you now. Have fun wasting your time.

I am so glad that member figured out the structure of how forums are run. I feared it might never sink in. Unfortunately though she apparently is still a bit hazy on the Admin/Owner part. Congratulations to that member for finally recognizing Carla is the mod.

BTW I still wonder who is running this forum. I thought it was Franky. Carla is the mod and she works under him. Hopefully since this member has at least partially figured out the structure of the forum and now acknowledges that Carla is the mod, this member will stop trying to give Carla instructions about how to conduct her job.

Some folks appear very adroit at doing all the things they accuse others of doing. One has only to read this member's posts, just on this thread alone, to see that. For someone who is planning to ignore posts and leave the forum, this person keeps going and going and going just like the Energizer Bunny.

Kritts The only reason I am being a pain is because I feel so much better since I quit processed Food .
I want to tell others how to feel better.
It is not easy .You really crave a Mug of Coffeee or whatever at times and you can't run to the cornershop when you get the munchies.
But after a week or two you start craving real food.
Why do you think it is so out of the question that we can heal ourselves by eating how we were designed to eat ?
Do you really think that one day Mr Big Pharma is going to produce a magic pill and we will all be cured.
