It's time for Europe to reassess its skepticism towards genetically modified (GMO) foods and trust scientists who have deemed them safe -- or risk more international lawsuits, the EU trade chief said on Thursday.



This has gone to far....people are not even allowed to think for themselves anymore....Frankenscience knows best......this discusts me.....being FORCED into GMO FOODS when you don't want it....

I believe that GMO rice is all part of the obesity epidemic.....

Babies and pets are now included in our obesity stats....BABIES.....of all things.....are our babies being severed GMO rice in ALL their foods and the possibility this GMO RICE isn't digesting properly.....GMO rice has an EXTRA STRAND OF PROTEIN that our GOD GIVEN RICE DIDN"T.....

is this extra strand of protein not digesting properly.....or storing differently in our bodies thus causing this obesity epidemic (worldwide even) and our pets is this GM rice in their foods too.....I bet it is.....for our pets our now obese too.....

THEY have blamed everything absolutely possible on this epidemic EXCEPT GMO FOODS....

never once has GMO foods been investigated......just like the NANO Designer BUGS.....and because there are no laws to label our food that are GM modified the consumer has no clue what he is eating anymore and Frankenscience likes it that way.....THIS FRANKENSCIENTISTS are getting a FREE RIDE with playing GOD......

I believe it is the GMO RICE or CORN or BOTH have started this new wave of obesity for this obesity epidemic started not shortly after GMO FOODS came into our world........once they run out of reasons for this epidemic maybe then GMO FOODS will be investigated....

Yes, what is happening to the food supply is appalling. And no one really seems to care, as corporations, not family farms, are in charge of growing most of the foods purchased in the supermarket today. So look for more harassment of independent thinkers all over the world. Countries are being forced into lockstep, with I believe, the possible (?) hidden agenda of one world government behind it. What the individual country desires be damned if such is really going on.

I do feel we are living in a time in which corporations will be looked up to before countries are if things keep going the way they are and corporations continue to become more global. More and more people will be in thrall to corporations to survive. Many job weeks are now sliding up from 40 hours to 50+ hours a week. Salaries for the average person seem to be trending down (or why do so many hold two jobs). This sort of reminds me of the trend in medieval times, when the peasants (substitute average worker) toiled miserable long hours to get the most meager recompense from the Lord (read corporate bosses) over them. From their meager recompense (a few potatoes and some grain, maybe a rabbit or chicken or two) they were asked to contribute towards their Lord's war campaign chest against other Lords or Kings. Sound familiar? Just substitute tax structure. Faster and faster on that wheel which goes nowhere, but which does distract the peasants from what is really happening, which is control of their entire lives, from birth to death.

I would like to introduce yet another problem with foods today and which I really feel contributes even more to the rising obeisty rate than GMO food. That culprit I believe is high fructose corn syrup (probably GMO these days to add insult to injury) which is added to most processed foods in one way or another. And yet people are paying premium prices for horrible processed food which contains so many cheap preservatives. When these ingredients (high fructose corn syrup being the most pervasive I believe) make people obese they are distracted with a mantra from those in charge of such things (the government? paid off by corporations for their silence?) which choruses loudly: people themselves are making themselves fat. No, it is never the poor quality of the food which is offered to them. It is too little excercise. It is eating too much. Which could contribute to this, but still one never hears about the poor quality of the foods people purchase with added high fructose corn syrup, transfats etc. Just look, next time you shop and see. Fructose junk is even added to foods such as vegetables and meats like sausage, hot dog etc which do not need them. Unless it is poor quality which is being hidden. Europeans are horrified when they see all the added high fructose corn syrup in such foods. What it does to the pancreas of folks who do not try to avoid this ingredient probably is part and parcel of the (gasp) diabetes epidemic which is so suddenly and mysteriously appearing.

I am not even going to discuss this much, but what about the added hormones people are eating in meat? Estrogen makes women get fat. No brainer there. Also the estrogic effect of plastics in the body. No one can really estimate the harm done there either.

Still the mantra would have us believe the fat three year old is a victim of eating too much and not exercising enough. Say what?

Also the government food pyramid was changed some years ago to recommend eating more carbs than it used to recommend. Most people cannot handle excess carbs. The old food pyramid was probably a much better one to follow. You certainly did not see as many fat people in the days that pyramid held sway over recommended eating habits. Of course, those days were the mellower days when sugar, not high fructose corn syrup, was added to food. Sugar is not in itself healthy, but it seems to me that it was not added in as great a quantity to foods. Sugar is handled better by the body than high fructose corn syrup (different metabolic pathway). I am not saying that eating sugar in large quantities is healthy, but it seems a better choice to add to food than high fructose corn syrup. Did you know that there is a gray market in ethnic groceries for Mexican coke? That is because many recent immigrants know it tastes better coke with added high fructose corn syrup.

yes all of the dumb tikering going on is not good, and the pompous attitude that the consumer should not know. one culprit is a company called monsanto, which is big buisiness in a bad way. do a search on the millions against monsanto campaign you will see what i mean. they bio engineer cotton, clone animals, were one of the proud makers of agent orange (oh yeah, and cdc ruled dioxin or agent orange a face rash, whatever). they make gmo's too. i am no conspiracy theorist but when a company prefers consumers in the dark about food by lack of labelling such thing for us to choose, and wishes to put small farmers and organic growers out of business, this is just criminal i think. the usa seems too have an fda that rubberstamps many things like cloned animals in my opinion, and putting gmo's on lunchmeat .
