remedies........ Hey all, My son just called to say the whole family spent the night heaving in a bucket from what they think is the flu........ You'd think with all the research I've been doing I'd be able to rattle off exactly what they should take now. I'd like to compare any of your thoughts on this. Best way to quell the stomach, best way to replace electrolytes (besids gatorade)and how to get rid of it. I told them to sip ginger tea and to sip salty broth. You'd think I could come up with something besides what my grandmother's generation up to mine has suggested, huh? duhhh. Well, I could tell them how to get parasites out of the skin..nah...that won't help. Any thoughts? thanks Kritters Last edited by Kritters; February 8th, 2009 at 08:58 AM.

I think it's the 'stomach flu' which isn't a flu, but actually viral gastroenteritis based on what I just read. the only natual remedy I found was apple cider vinegar and lemon in water. nothing new under the sun, I guess.

Hey Kritts: That virus is horrible. Here are some remedies that helped my family and I. Sambucus, otherwise known as black elder berry is an anti-viral. Also, New Chapter has that ingredient in lozenge form we love. We lalso like Air Borne or the genetic equivalent. Another product occillococcinum reduces symptoms if you take it in the beginning and is useful during as well. Sometimes elder berry comes with echinachcea and garlic. But echinachea can cause heart palps in some people. Food based Vit C is great. Too much of it causes diarrhea, so less is more. Be careful with dosing. Also I find miso soup; a bit of miso paste in water with veggy bullion and olive oil is great cause it's rich in vit B and raises blood sugar. Also chicken soup, like grandma used to make can settle stomach and reduce symptoms. Hold onto your hats, cause it's a long ride. We had viremic episodes on and off for weeks. Sending you and your family lots of prayers. Hope some of this helps, sweetie. Love, Faithxoxoxooxo
