Isn't it amazing?......... We on this forum are more informed than many doctors regarding diseases and their REAL causes.
I bring this up, because I see it as an incredible positive. Sure..in a perfect world (the one we thought we lived in) the doctors would know all. In fact, as we know from people around us, most people do think that. In my experience, it serves only to separate me further from people around me. I'm thinking we have been brought to this for a reason. Every one of us. I think we need to appreciate this aspect of this experience:
We are coming together to research, compare notes, help each other, and we ironically know so much more than most people in the medical profession (certainly DERMATOLOGISTS and INFECTIOUS DISEASE 'SPECIALISTS' and LYME 'SPECIALISTS'.....)
We are a very unique group of people who don't take, "we don't know" for an answer.
I have a dear friend from high school and we still keep in touch, although she is on the West coast and I the East. She has an aunt who is in her 80's who has chronic Lyme. I told her today how sorry I am that she is in such a late stage, because I may have been able to help her if that were not the case. Of course, I then had my hissy fit thinking, "why don't the doctors know what I do?" Yes, her aunt is in her 80's but why should she have to suffer for so long? This woman had a severely retarded son she took care of his whole life. When she told me this, I thought, "and I complain...." Yes, that's life and here's the thing...as disappointed and disillusioned as I am about the reality of the world today and just why we all have diseases 'they' don't know how to cure, but give drugs for....it is what it is. I have to keep reminding myself that. All I can do at this point is keep researching for the sake of my family. And that just very well may be the best thing.
I think we should give ourselves a standing ovation. Not only for what we have accomplished so far in research, but for what we will be accomplishing in the future.
I'd also like to take this opportunity, if anyone has actually read what I wrote so far, to ask everyone to be brave, be strong and keep fighting. Keep putting the word out and keep researching.Don't be afraid of anyone or anything. Don't let the Doctors intimidate you. Knowledge is power. We can't let anyone take our power away from us.
And when the men in black come after me, I'll tell them how stupid they look and verbally intimidate them. I'll tell them John Belushi and Dan Akroyd looked better in black.
Love y'all,
