Hi VS,
Finding a Lyme doctor is very hard because most of them do not want to be recognized as Lyme doctors and their patients are very protective of them. You can go to the following website and sign of for free and get 3 names of LLMD's in your area. That's what I did. Good Luck!

Here's a website for the Lyme Alliance in Utah. There are some support groups listed on the site which may lead you to some suggestions for doctors to see. The only doctor that is listed on the old lyme list is a psychiatrist. This group might know whether or not he is a good doctor as far as treating lyme and runs the appropriate tests for that. If you want his name just send me a pm and I will forward it to you.

There is no doctor in Utah on the Morgellons list that I have. Not all tests for lyme are created equal and those run by labs such as quest and lab corp often miss lyme. Igenex is one testing lab which more often identifies lyme and its co-infections. It is more expensive and may or may not be covered by your insurance. Hope you also saw the lyme section on the forum as there is some information there which may also be useful to you.

This site has a referral area within a forum. Just push the button on the left side of this page which says flash discussion which will point you to the forum pages:

Default thanks Megan and TCM

Yes, I talked to the psychiatrist today.......if his last name starts with a "K" first name "W". Was no help since he knew no one else and said that he had attended one seminar on lymes and that is all he knew about it and is not treating it.

Does anyone think that my regular doctor would draw blood and send it to that lab in Ca.?

I don't suppose it would hurt to ask your doctor to see if he is open to drawing blood for you and sending it away to Igenex for you. The only caveat I can see there is that if he knows only as much as the average doctor does about lyme he may not be able to read the test results or know how to treat lyme if it is detected. He may not even know what co-infections to test for and that's important information for you to have as well. BTW, the Igenex lab might give you the name of doctors in Utah who use their testing which could give you a few leads. And the lyme alliance Utah website may help you if you contact them directly for help. Sometimes names of lyme doctors who treat in your state can be obtained from those who run these sites. Good luck.

My doctor was more than willing to take and send the sample to IgeneX. You need to call ahead and have them send the test kit to your doctors office. They'll do it for free to a physician.

Basic Lyme panel is $260.00
Initial Lyme panel is $410.00
Complete Lyme panel is $475.00
RMSF panel is $290, or just simple test for $135

I wish I could break it down further with what test gives you what, but I really don't have that information. I'd think a basic panel is sufficient in your case.

You have to pay out of pocket and submit to your insurance for reimbursement. Igenex doesn't file insurance, but they'll give you all the codes you'll need to do it yourself.
