The condition you're talking about is called "alkalosis", and can be quite dangerous. My guess is that one would have to maintain this status for a period of time, and not just a day, which could lead to further complications.

I was on a very alkaline diet for three months to battle this disease as a result of similar reasoning --- completely vegan, almost all green veggies, etc. I lost a quarter of my bodyweight and am now having a very hard time regaining even 5 lbs. While I do think it was helpful overall, I also believe that I may have done some long-term harm to my metabolism or something, and I am not cured.
I think that striving for a slightly higher Ph would be beneficial, but that going too far in the extreme is potentially harmful.
Since I have been eating a much broader diet, although still aiming for alkaline foods, I am actually feeling much better and stronger, and my symptoms have improved since those early days.

I have ph test strips and check myself several times a day to see how I am doing at staying near 7. Anyway, at the end of the day I was now very alkaline which is a first for me! VERY alkaline, I turned white as a ghost and had one of the worst headaches ever, BUT I noticed that my M. symptoms were very very little!
So, I am putting this out there for feedback........what do you all think about possibly being able to kill "it" off by making body not only ph balanced but actually very alkaline.
I watched this youtube video that was posted on an M. sufferers blog site and it was about how "bugs" meaning bacteria etc etc. all thrive in acidic environment and that many diseases could be helped by simpy ph balancing the body. It was about cleaning up the "swimming pool" equating our bodies which are mostly water to a "swimming pool" .....anyway it really made sense and what prompted me to make further advancements in my diet which was already pretty healthy.....not a lot of junk food etc.
Anyway, I'm thinking that going way to the other end of the scale may actually kill these "buggers" whatever they are. It made me sick too, but if for short stints I can kill some of them then maybe my immune system would have a fighting chance against them.
