a few things that are helping Just thought I would provide a few updates - as always, these are just the things that are helping me currently - since we suffer from different problems and are in various stages of illness and/or healing (I like to think healing) they may or may not be helpful to someone else.
Dry skin brushing - I so wish I would have been doing this all along. It is good for the Lymph system and it gets off all the dry flaky stuff (which I think this thing feeds on or something). Anyhow, it takes about 2mns to do before I shower. I don't have the pigpen cloud of dust coming off of me anymore and my skin is looking good (I know this can change but I'll take the progress).
Kenalog spray for the scalp (RX) - This is a steroid and lots of members have had issues using a steroid so caution should be advised. However, for me, it has been helpful. I can't dry brush my scalp due to having hair extensions in so I use this when I am out and about. Nothing comes off my scalp after I spray. As I will be around others through the holiday season I will definitely keep using it and will report back if I end up having any ill effects. Another helpful scalp thing I have been trying is old school listerene - after I shampoo I apply it - let it sit then rinse it, followed by conditioner and a good lice comb brush out. This method is pulling the little hairs/fibers/mystery whatever out of my hair before I style it. Once styled my hair sometimes even feels and appears "normal" for a day vs. the wire like mess I had going on.
I used to get large lesions - now just the pin prick kind from time to time. I finally tried using the New Skin liquid bandage stuff on the little "lesions/bites". What stayed around for weeks now appears to heal within a few days and no scaring. Not sure it would have worked on the big active ones but I am so glad that it helps for the stage that I seem to be in.
Hope someone finds a tip or two that is beneficial. No cures here but just some ideas regarding the management of symptoms. I wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving. I am so grateful for this site. |
