Dosing Cat My cat and I were sprayed at the same time by a passing plane and developed horrible Morgellons. My cat was itching nonstop like I was, and had the black specks coming out. I tried giving her one quarter piece of a 3 gram stromectol tablet (ivermectin) now and then. It probably helped. I also learned that just a 1/10 of a teaspoon of ivermectin paste for horses was probably a good dose for a cat. If I put it on her fur, she licked it off.
Dosing a cat with ivermectin (particularly using too much paste form) is very dangerous for the cat. My cat became very wobbly and almost died. It broke my heart to give her ivermectin, but her suffering was horrendous and nonstop and it seemed to help alleviate it for a few days (plus, after not dying she recovered in a couple of days).
Ivermectin dosing is also very deceptive because the cat become stimulated at first and doesn't seem to have a problem with the drug for several hours after dosing -- yet can then die if overdosed. Believe me, if there had been any other answer I knew at the time, other than experimenting with dosing my poor beloved cat, I would have chosen it.
My original cat ended up committing suicide after leaving me a leaf to show how much she loved me -- it was our little communication. I was grateful she understood I was not trying to betray her by torturing her. At first she was heartbroken because she felt I was drugging her to hurt her. Later, when I discovered diatomous clay (mispelled it), and would powder her with it to help the severe itching (and this was Morgellons, as I always treat cats for fleas with great success), she would constantly pester me to have more powder put on because it helped a little. This is when she figured out I was trying to relieve her suffering, not causing it (the relentless itching) by giving her ivermectin. Her demand to be constantly powdered became so relentless that I thought I was going to lose my mind. Still, I hoped we could both be saved. Then she deliberately went out into the street so she could be run over (and normally, she was terrified of traffic). The death of my cat caused me to go into therapy. Nothing was more destructive to me than the death of this poor companion in this horrible disease who had been a fellow suffering angel of sweetness (when even my oldest friends shunned me and left me to die alone covered in sores, almost bedridden -- while my HMO claimed I was self-inflicting the wounds).
Given how dangerous it is to dose an animal with ivermectin (note I suggest only 1/4 of a 3 mg stromectol tablet every other day at most), I would avoid ivermectin with cats. With large dogs, it would probably be more helpful, but I've never tried ivermectin on a dog.
Fortunately, colloidal silver seems a good way to help a cat with Morgellons. Just add a tiny drop every other day on top of her wet food, she'll never notice. It also seems ok. However, I would ask an expert on colloidal silver (perhaps a manufacturer) what the proper animal doses would be.
My current cat doesn't need anything as she's in good health. In fact, she's curled up on my lap as I type this.
On a happier note -- I'm almost over my Morgellons. Read my many posts to find the various cures that work. |
