Scalp experiments

One of my most bothersome symptoms has been itching scalp. The "hairbrush test" was the way I first became convinced that all my weird symptoms added up to Morgellons! I had been washing my hair with Pantene for several months. My scalp would always be itching within 2-3 hours after shampooing. I soaked my brush in clorox overnight, and it looked like brand new, even under the microscope. I took a shower and used lye soap on my body, and my hair. After my hair was dry, I brushed it a couple of times, and was shocked to see the amount of "stuff" not only around the bristles, but also along the edge of the brush! After about 12 hours of frequent hair brushing, the brush looked like it hadn't been cleaned for many months!! I looked at this stuff under the microscope and was almost sick at the amount of amber goo, fibers of all the normal colors, glitter, and what looked like plastic hair! I waited 24 hours, then washed my hair with Dawn dish detergent. Brush was now clean as new again after clorox soak and washing. Hours after shampoo with Dawn, no itching, no goo or other junk on brush. Now, another day later, there is some itching, but not bad or not all the time. What I believe happened was the lye soap cut through a ton of the stuff that had been building up on my scalp, and I was able to brush a ton of it out of my hair. Has anyone else used lye soap on their hair? If so, did you have similar results or not?

marsha, I have had morg for 3 years and have only been dealing with the scalp issues the past 4 months. Started with a lesion and now have this build up of I call them barnacles yellow like and also comb out a lot of red looking fibers that almost look like a nymph of a bug. I have tried prescritions lye soap, different shampoos, yes the dawn w baking soda hurt till I cried. so it is a fun time today I bought some more tea tree oil. too mix with shampoo. sammy

Sammy, I'm so sorry you are having so much trouble! I don't really know how long I've had Morgellons. I've only KNOWN I have it for about 2 weeks! But looking back, I'd guess I've had it for around ten years, but at least 4. That's when the terrible itching in my ear canals started. I'd clean and clean, and see nothing. It about drove me crazy some nights. After I learned about M, I put Seabreeze Antiseptic on a q-tip, scrubbed out my ears, then looked at it under a microscope. My anxiety went through the roof! It was covered with black fibers, and hair looking things. To the naked eye, the q-tip was as clean as if it had never been used! I've also found this stuff in my dogs ears and eyes, and in my cat's ears. I now have a huge list of things to order to try to clean up me, my pets, and my home! I'm so glad to have found this forum. Only one person in my family knows about this right now. It's good to have people to talk to who understand.
