I am not sure if this is a Morg related thing or not. I have portion of the palm side of my hand (in between and under the index and middle finger) that has swollen and is slightly tender to the touch and movement. The patch is oblong shaped and roughly the size of a quarter. I'd say its about 3mm in height. The skin is normal color ad there is no reddness. Has anyone experienced this? Ideas on ho to get rid of it? Thanks J

| Hi there, I found an online Korean acupuncture hand chart. It is a bit hard to read, but it looks like the areas of the body which could be affecting you (if you extend out to the fingers above the area you discuss) are the large intestine (makes sense if there is parasitic involvement with your symptoms), small intestine (a lot of parasites hide in the small intestine) lymph (pretty sure whatever we have effects the lymph and blood), and lung (the area right between the fingers mentions cough and bronchitis which would be lung--btw currently it is lung time as viewed by TCM thought where imbalances in lung will show up more easily), and also pericardium (the P). You can learn about doing some acupressure at home to see if this help remove the blockage (swollen area) you are seeing. A book which was recommended to me at one time (I was lucky to receive as it was a gift from a TCM friend) is Acupressure's Potent Points by Michael Reid Gach) Chinese and Korean Hand Acupuncture Chart

how long have you had it? how did you realize it was there? So, it doesn't feel like the beginnings of say, a callous? When you stretch out your hand does it get whiter and more solid?

Yeah, Hip, I was thinking that also. A friend of mine is Italian and has it and said the doc said it runs in Mediterranean heritage. I think just like everything else, they use the "it runs in xxx heritage" to explain what they can't explain in the medical industry. DUHHHHH -UHHHH. I don't know...just went to medical school. what do you want from me, anyway???

Jin, I have someting similar that I am positive is related to this illness. Mine are usually on the bottom part of my palm near my thumb, in that paddy area. They look like little worms. I have considered it might be some type of vascular thing. At the same time I first started getting these I was also having purple blotches on my palm, and I had long purple lines - I guess the veins - down each finger. Then these worm-like lumps appear I feel pain and then look to see the bumps. At first I got them on my palms, feet, and forearms. Now I do not get them as much and mainly only on my palms. A few times I got the lump but not the pain. It scares the **** out of me because it LOOKS and FEELS like I am seeing actual parasites under the skin.

Oh, one difference w/mine - they definitely appear to be IN the vein. You can see the vein under the skin, but the bumps sometimes go in and then back up (rather than gradually decreasing like a regular vein would), just like it would if there was a worm in there.

Exactly. The thing about doctors is that they have to following their training, or else. Docs can get disciplined by their professional bodies if they deviate to much from the standard treatment. So they just say what they have be taught in many cases. But if you look at the very latest medical research, more and more diseases are being linked to infectious microbial causes (viruses, bacteria, etc). In the near future, we will probably find that nearly all diseases are caused by germs of some sort, rather than genes. So in a more enlightened future, when you go to a doctor, they will immediately want to get to the bottom of your situation, and find out what microbe or microbes are causing your complaints, rather than just name your condition. I also know a guy with dupuytren's (and he has my virus). I think dupuytren's is related to problems with the body's fibroblast cells (which can get infected by viruses, and then malfunction). Fibroblasts are found in the skin, and they make human collagen fibers. I think dupuytren's is the overproduction of these collagen fibers, leading to the build up of connective tissue under the skin. Fibroblasts can also make collagenase and elastase (enzyme which remove collagen and elastin), to remove connective tissue if necessary. The reason I know this is because I have these fine wrinkles on my skin, and I though that this might be due to a problem with my fibroblasts, producing too much elastase. Fibroblasts can be infected by viruses like coxsackievirus B, and then malfunction. Coxsackievirus B is very likely the virus I have (and Coxsackie B is a very common cause of CFS). It did occur to me, when I was reading about fibroblasts, that the fibers found in Morgellons-disease could actually be just human collagen build up, resulting from malfunctioning fibroblasts. Little blobs of dupuytren-like collagen. One tiny bit of supporting evidence supporting this collagen build up idea is that human collagen fibers will fluoresce under UV light (and the MRF discovered long ago that Morg fibers also fluoresce; but I imagine so do a lot of other parts of the human anatomy, so this is not much proof). Note that a single collagen fiber can only be seen under the microscope, so there would need to be some build up of this material before it became visible like the Morgellon's fibers. This collagen build up idea for Morgellon's is probably wrong (and there are far too many speculative theories about, already, aren't there). Last edited by Hip; September 20th, 2009 at 08:00 PM.
