| I keep seeing conflicting info about sulphur and M. I am not sure if it is helpful or inadvisable to soak in sulphur. I was in a natural hot spring w sulphur and started getting concerned about whether the sulphur would make the parasites stronger or weaker. I saw worms in the water. ![]() Also, I am confused about the contagion factor. I dont want to give this to anyone else. But I dont have the money to hole up and avoid all ppl all day every day. Well, mostly for now, I am just wondering are sulphur hot springs a yea or nay? |

| I know how you feel, contagion is my absolute biggest fear!! If I were near a sulfur hot spring however, I would dive right and stay for the day. Pray and hope that God and Mother Nature keeps others safe. |

| Sulphur is used in insecticides! I would think it would be very helpful. I would think that anything that comes out of you would be dead, so I don't think being contagious would be an issue? I think soaking in a sulphur spring would be very therapuetic. Maybe others have a different opinion? |

| Ya, but the weird thing is.. as I was sitting there I noticed lots of tiny little white worms and other organisms. I finally realized they were NOT coming out of me, but were already in the water. Now I'm not sure if I will get more infection from the springs or if it is better to go in anyway. I will probably stay out tonight, but I will check back here b4 I decide what to do tomorrow. Thanks guys! |

| So Bactrim is the last antibiotic I was on, this medication contains sulphur and so do others that are currently being used bc the MRSA virus has not become completely restistant to the medication (YET), anyway. Some ppl do have an allergic reaction to sulpher including rash, swollen lips (I had this, LOL) and some further complications, however they went away when off the meds. containing sulpher... these can appear while on or after the use of sulphur... internally mixed in medication As far as a topical version such as hot springs I am not sure it would really have the same form of side effects considering that it is external not internal as well as it is not being mixed with other medications (technically), if in natural form such as a hot spring. This does not mean you would not show a reaction to it if you have an allergy to sulphur itself. I did attempt to research on line briefly but could not find any info regarding sulphur hot springs/parasites or organisms living in them, nor could I find information regarding allergic reactions from sulphur hot springs or external use of natural sulphur water/hot springs. If you are on meds that could interact with sulphur this may be a concern since our skin does take in anything we topically apply to it such as bath water, lotions, creams, gels ect. Someone else may have better luck or already know helpful information on this. As far as passing this disease along well most parasites or diseases are passed through fluids, but since we are not sure what is causing this disease or how many versions/forms of this disease no one can be sure how many ways or what ways we can pass it along. MRSA is one of the strongest superbugs and at this time anything 35% alcohol or greater kills it, so I would recommend using purell with the 65% or stronger alcohol content as much as possible. Covering lesions, cuts, scrapes, open skin of anytype with the blister band aids that are skin color, these are waterproof and last for several days on the lesion or cut. Unless they are draining fluid. JMO but I do not use/share towels clothing make up lotions ect, nor do I go in pools, spa's, showers, ect. other than my own, even with my own family and especially my son. He is not allowed in my room unless he has socks/slippers on and he can not go on my bed or in my bathroom. My husband and my son share a bathroom. I am married and in a healthy marriage so there are some things that my husband and I can not prevent, however we use extra caution and we limit as much as possible most things. As he does not use my bathroom towels ect. I bleach everything plus I use purell inbetween. I do wear plastic gloves and boil other things as much as possible as well. I do not use their toothpaste mouth washes or drink from their glasses share food ect. This I have always done, with my "I DON'T SHARE LIPS POLICY" as I have never had a cold sore and have been OCD since I was 2 or 3 yrs old on this subject. Anyway, with all that said you do need to live life and you do need to be careful so as your own person you know what is right in your heart and keeping others as safe as you poss. can. We all worry about the transfer factor and at times this does become a stronger nag than other times especially when it prevents us from doing things that exclude us. However, we will not know if we can prevent it from passing until we know how it is passed and what it is. Good luck and enjoy Xoxo meg |

| They LOOKED like they were still moving. Little white worms, and little white ... things. I was kind of freaking out quietly.I am at a healing retreat type of place so I was especially coming for the hot springs. Now I'm not sure what to do. I feel pretty confident I attract bugs. I wonder if I attract worms too. |
| |||
| And thank you Meg! I was scrubbing like crazy, etc. before I went in the springs. Other than that I never share (and even try not to touch) anything that would be shared with others. I am a touchy-feely person but now I even freak out when someone tries to shake my hand. I dont think I am infecting others tho because some of the things I saw fall off me initially are EVERYWHERE (not from me) at the library, the gyms, etc, but others dont seem to be bothered by it. Well, I am so scared of those worms but I think I might try again this afternoon. Thanks again everyone for the replies. |

| As someone who has problems with sulfa, the antibiotic, but not sulfur, the mineral I would like to point out to others that these two items are not the same. That said, here is something I found out which could be good to keep in mind about hot sulfur springs: theHSG: General Hot Springs Warnings (there are other warnings on this page, but these pertain to some of the wild life, other warnings include human behaviors)
