i recently found i out have morgellons and i was horrified as i learned more about it. .although my first problem were my hands and fingers. thinking i had splinters from working with wood i plucked out every single one of those black specks from my fingers, ouch! aside from the sores and itching, my scalp and arms are the most problem the itching seems to never calm down, terrified i had lice i ran to the store and tries everything still no relief. called my sister the hair dresser for advice she told me of many different things to use chemical and natural ,still no relief. my hair texture is changing too! not soft and flowing anymore! i have waist length blonde hair ,i am 55 and had long hair all my life! and it always was heathly looking and feeling ,i don't want to cut it all off! i can not stand the constant itch in my scalp! any suggestion? also do you think i should be keeping my brushes, combs, etc. soaking in something? i wash them and disinfect them about once a week or so. suzie q

Hello Suzie, welcome to the forum! There are a few things that helped me in the initial phase. After washing my hair with anti dandruff shampoo (use one with sulfur) I rinsed my hair afterwards with diluted white vinegar. Takes away the itching instantly. Or another alternative is to rub sea salt in to the hair and especially the scalp. Morgs don't like this stuff at all. I made the experience it seems to KILL 'em, actually my symptoms got better after each use. Another thing you could try is rubbing alcohol. If you add some eucalyptus oil it'll work even better. Leave it on, best over night. Yes..and long hair is a problem. I also had long dark hair and had to cut it off since I found it was almost unmanageable under these circumstances. It's a lot easier to 'fight' the Morgs when your hair is shorter. Washing, disinfecting your personal combs and brushes is a very good idea! Actually I rinsed my combs/brushes after each use with very hot water and then sprayed them with disinfectant spray. Hope you'll find some relief... Kat Last edited by Katinka; October 14th, 2009 at 10:19 AM.

I had a scalp thread about a year ago. My issue under the skin has not been figured out, but when I scrathed it, it got infected badly with staph, and I had yellow crusted lesions all over my head. What helped it was BACTROBAN ointment, nothing else worked. not even oral antiotics except BACTRUM.

Welcome FaithWhoKnew! I got rid of most or all of the bugs by getting rid of fabrics they liked, like cotton. I still pick have some in the laundry sometimes tho... SeaSprite, thanks for the help about hair. I had problems w that at first too. So far, so good now, but cross my fingers. One thing that helped me w moving, biting, stinging hair was Fairy Tale leave in hair conditioner. It has Citronella and a bunch of related oils. It is easier for me to get it already mixed up than to make my own.

I had read of some of us having scalp issues before I joined, so I just wanted to warn about what I learned on my ND's website, trying to help a friend w/Vertigo. Their fix for Vertigo targets something called 'salicylates', these weird salt-crystal-like things. Some dandruff shampoos contain salicylates and these can come to rest in and do damage to our ear canals. They're in a variety of common products, there's a wikipedia on them if anyone wants to look 'em up...

For the crawlies in your hair: Go to Whole Foods or try local health food store and get JASON's natural dandruff shampoo (in the brown bottle). It has MSM, Neem Oil, Tea Tree Oil, Colloidal Sulfur and Rosemary. This stuff is DA BOMB! Bugs hate all of these ingredients. I've even washed my body in it. It's great stuff, reasonably priced and you'll get relief.
