Default Doctors treating Morgellons

Hi, I was wondering if anyone that has visited Dr. Cheryl Reed could tell me how their visit went. There are some pretty bad reviews out on her so I’m checking a little deeper. There aren’t any doctors that I know of in Tennessee treating morgellons so I’m looking for someone out of state, or if there are any suggestion that would also be great. Thanks

Default Beware of doctors treating

Beware of the expert doctor treating morgellons, it is a situation where they can easily make you worse. If you are not on antibiotics do not start them or you will never get off them. There are so many natural things that help, you may want to try some before you get on the rollercoaster of treatments. There are threads on here of what many have been diagnosed with, you may want to set up your testing by these positive results of others. Lyme disease is on the top of the list.

Rick -
Dr. Reed is quite clear that she's as bewildered as any. She will prescribe in acccordance with treatable symptoms that are probably unrelated to Morgellons...but who really knows what is and what is not.
I don't think there are any conventional doctors who can have much success with this, although a lot of them (now) do treat it - Dr. Kolb, Dr. Uppal, Ginger Savely and Dr. Stricker, Dr. Schaller, and others. I really have only heard a few people say they have been helped by conventional medicine (Lady Colorado?), although I have heard some of these doctors say they have helped. So the jury is out on this.
On the other hand, many more people say they have been helped by alternative medicine (including yours truly).
As far as Dr. Reed as a person, she is very, very nice and NONdismissive, which can be helpful all by itself. To be BELIEVED and feel compassion from someone who has "MD" after their name is wonderful.
I am surprised that anyone would say anything negative about her. She doesn't gouge people for $$ the way many of the doctors who "treat" this do. It isn't her fault that the medical world hasn't figured this out. It's the damned government's fault!! Pardon me, lost it there...
Anyway, it is Dr. Reed who started our support group last year in Tampa. She gives up her Sunday afternoons for us (even supplies treats!). She's an awfully nice woman.
Can you find a naturopath near you? You're in TN, right?? Maybe someone here knows a naturopath up there...

Hi Rick & welcome,

I agree with SS and BO (& tcm always has great info).

First hand, I see a naturopathic doctor here in New Mexico, and know of one in upstate New York that have helped a lot of us. But that's a long way for you to travel from Tennessee.

In the white light,
~jonsi

Welcome,

Get yourself the frex16 rife software program and start killing those spirochetes.
Also work on candida, asperigillus, babesia, mycoplasma and others at once.

.

I have heard ONLY GOOD things about Dr. Reed.

When I needed a MD, I went to Home - Morgellons Research Foundation and it forwarded me on to a Lyme Doc Referral site. I found both a MD and a Natural Doctor within 3 hours of where I live. (thanks ladycolarado who told me about this!)

If you are a member of Lymebusters, I would suggest writing to a member named Rhorn2006 who has a Doctor in Tennesee who treats his morgellons. (he has made this statement publically). You never know,.... that same doctor could be close to you!

Welcome to the forum here.

I don't know where you heard anything negative about Dr. Reed. I haven't come across many doctors willing to sit there and listen to all the symptoms and stories about what we go through with Morgellons, on their own time! Does she offer a cure for Morgellons, no, but she is at least interested in the subject. If you're looking to come to FL and find a cure for this, well thats not whats gonna happen. If you're looking for a Dr that will at least listen to what you're saying, take it serious and try to help alleviate some of the things that bother you most; as well as, make sure you're not doing more harm then good thats probably more along the lines of what anyone can do right now. Is it worth it for you to travel from TN to FL to see her...well thats for you to decide, are you getting ANY help in TN? Can you afford to make a trip to FL?
BTW the support group is made up of many people who aren't patients of Dr. Reed too.
If you did decide to see Dr. Reed, maybe try to coordinate your visit the Friday of the same weekend as a support meeting. They are usually the last Sunday of the month, it helped meeting others with this. I hope this helps you make a decision.
