| hi folks-- i recently started blowing my hair dry at night after showering and washing it, but before going to bed. it seems to be helping---i'm not seeing those little black lint balls anymore. however, my hair feels gummy. it's hard to get it to feel completely dry. i thought maybe it was the conditioner i'm using (this stuff that comes with my hair coloring kit--nice and easy), but now i'm thinking maybe this is biofilm. i use one hand to part and fluff my hair while drying and i've noticed the gummy feeling on that hand and i've also seen brown colored material that settles into the crevices of my fingers. it's gross, but it does wash away from my hands with a little soap and h2o. my question--do you think this is bio-film and if so, what can i use to help eliminate this from my hair? fyi---i use j.a.s.o.n. brand dandruff shampoo--also nizoral and selsun blue occasionally. i've tried to get onto marc's site because i recalled seeing a biofilm remover on there some time ago, but it won't allow me access. i'm sure this is on the site somewhere, but i'm having trouble finding definitive information from the search mode. thanks, kelley |

| Hi Kelley, you know what? I used that hair colouring "nice & easy" too and it's just FULL of silicone. That's the gummy feeling of your hair and why you think they are still wet. They feel slick? I've noticed that also and stopped using it. If you look at our "silicon thread" there is alot of information about silicon which is often mixed into personal care products such as hair coloration. The brown "stuff" on your fingers could be residue from the hair colouring due to use of harsh anti dandruff shampoo. It dissolves the colour. Try to stay away from hair products with silicon in it. Look for the ingredient: dimethicones. That's silicone. ... Personal care Silicones are ingredients in many hair conditioner, shampoo, and hair gel products. Some silicones, notably the amine functionalized amodimethicones, are excellent conditioners. They improve combability, feel, and softness, and also lessen frizz. Another silicone family, the phenyltrimethicones, are used in reflection-enhancing and color-correcting hair products, where they increase shine and glossiness (and possibly effect subtle color changes). Phenyltrimethicones, unlike the conditioning amodimethicones, have refractive indices (typically 1.46) close to that of human hair (1.54). It should be noted that achieving both high-shine and excellent conditioning in one hair care product is much more difficult than simply adding two different silicones to the formulation, because amodimethicone and phenyltrimethicone interact with and dilute each other. This is one reason why modern hair care products, and cosmetics generally, are among the most highly engineered consumer products. Silicones are also used in some shaving products [13] and personal lubricants. Menstrual cups are often made of silicone for its durability and reusability. Silicone is also material of choice for soft sex toys, due to its durability, cleanability and lack of phthalates, chemicals suspected of having carcinogenic and mutagenic effects on the skin and mucous membranes.[14][15][16] One review of the health risks of phthalates advocated moving away from medical devices containing phthalates because of their toxicity.. | I don't want to interrupt your hair dye discussion here, but I have to use a face mask with a valve, every time I dye my hair (otherwise I get the worst headache ever on any planet in the Universe). It doesn't matter what brand I use. You are mentioning silicon. Two years ago I read that our dirt is depleted of silica, silicone, I can't remember the exact "term". I went out and bought a supplement and soon after I started having the worst back-aches. It started out under my rib-cage and soon moved to my back. So, I'm going to suggest that everyone stays away from silicone/silica supplements. Anyone who suffers from these horrible back aches, try "icy-hot" or blue "emu" lotion. It worked for me within two minutes. I only use one "shampoo". I use Miracle II soap all over my body and on my hair. It is the ONLY soap we use in my house. If you need more info on a great distributor/cheapest price, call me, Kelley. In the white light, ~jonsi

| hiya hilly! i tried your link, but i get the same message i've been getting for awhile---that you have to be a registered user. i've sent the form in to register several times, but don't seem to be getting a reply. i noticed that beverlymd has a site where she sells marc's products. i may check into that and see if it's still a working site. jonsi--it's interesting the bit about silicone. i read that diatomaceous earth is full of it--or perhaps more accurately, silica. gotta go back and read that thread katinka refers to---i'm sure somebody must have commented on that fact. i'll send you an email about the Miracle II stuff--thanks! xokelley |

| kelley, It took me several times to register with Marc Neumann/ S-M-G. I finally figured it out and today just received my DSP, sent registered mail from Marc in Germany. I still haven't tried the diatomaceous earth and I have a 10 pound bag sitting on my dining room table that I bought over a year ago. Hmmmm, I'll make a call to the wonderful lady (ND) that suggested the DE and find out what's up. Thanks for the heads up. katinka, me too! I'm not ready to go gray. But, I'm afraid to use any coloring without the mask. In the white light, ~jonsi
