hi folks--- i shower at night before bed and i've found that a good cold water rinse seems to help---at least with the crawling sensations. i've wondered quite a bit about why this is so---does it have something to do with closing the pores? i think i stumbled on this because in the early days, when my infection was centered on the feet and the itching was unbearable, ice water soaks helped tremendously. the fierce rashes that have troubled me lately are all in the warm areas of the body---inner arm, underarm, behind the knees, top of the legs, breasts. if parasites seek out the warmth, shouldn't cold temperatures be more effective? i read somewhere online---and i can't find it again for the life of me---that dr. harvey recommended ice water baths for morgellons patients--as cold as they could stand it. i've done some searches on MDR and found something posted by baraka obam about swedish hot/cold treatments (see link below), but couldn't find much else. Hanging out inside the lesion all of these thoughts lead me back to laundry. the protocols all say wash in hot water---but now i'm wondering if cold water night be more effective. does anyone have any experiences with this? thanks, kelley

Hi Kelley, I think cold water slows down reproduction at the very least and I think what you say about closing pores also makes sense - I've found that keeping by body cooler at work reduces shedding, and drinking cold drinks helps too. Im not sure that keeping ourselves cold helps in detox and pushing the infection out of the body. I know Bubba (an expert morgie) has a massive outpouring by raising her body temp by 5 degrees - due to a fever. I think exercise helps push them out due to the core temp increase. Anyone else noticed any change with cold water use etc? Jo xxx

I have less problems and have not had to throw away clothes, towels, or sheets by using a cold water wash/rinse. Or if I want to wash with Hot water for certain types of Laundry, I will turn the washer off and let the water cool overnight while it soaks. Then everything is rinsed 2x or more in cold water. I don't ever get those balls of lint anymore stuck on blankets and clothing. Plus my towels are not falling apart anymore. In the shower, I like a cool rinse too. I feel that the morgs thrive in warmth and moisture. My hair feels much better rinsed with cool water.

thanks kmar! this helps give me the courage to try cold water washes. i must say---i left a load of clothes soaking in the washer for the last two days---i just got busy and didn't get back to it. so i went ahead and ran it all through again---a hot cycle---and when i pulled the wet clothes out to put them in the dryer, at least three items were covered in lint balls--in particular, a sweater that is acrylic. i've never seem so many ![]() it was so bad i just threw them out---i got too creeped out! someday maybe they'll tell us the fibers are benign, or just die off but until then....they're fairly new to me and they really scare me---i'm 6 months into this mess and just started really noticing them. and jo---i've been wondering about the whole body temp thing and am looking into far infrared saunas---tcm has been giving me some great info, as always! (i meant to reply to you sooner and got lost!) thanks for weighing in, folks-- xokelley Last edited by kelley; April 6th, 2009 at 01:51 AM. Reason: typo

| Hey Kelly, Just more weight for ya, (my opinion) My guess is that it has more to do with moisture than temperature. Heat expands and allows more moisture into the skin/material. If you finish off with a cold shower, your pores close and less moisture will be absorbed. I think drying off thoroughly is the most important thing. We had the discussion recently about the hot salt/h202 baths and how some recommended doing it and others not. I take them and dry off thoroughly, open the windows and get the steam out of the air. I usually put eucalyptus in also and try to inhale the seam from the bath as I'm taking it. Then get rid of all the moisture in the air in the bathroom. That means keeping the wet towels out of the room also. The hot water dries out the skin which in our case is a good thing, as long as followed up with a good natural cream like DSP or aloe or some other healthy based cream so the skin doesn't end up looking like a crepe paper party roll.
