Lightbulb Internal Med. Holistic Doctor in Tampa, FL

Hi guys,

I have been coming to this site, but have not posted in a while, due to the fact that I have been hurting so badly and been pretty depressed.

I had my first lesion 3 years ago on my chin. I had surgery twice trying get rid of it as it spread and got worse. As time went on, and doctors passed me around, it moved to my nose area and then up to my brow-line, and is currently in the middle of my eyes It is now causing headaches and memory loss. Every doctor pretty much said I was doing this to myself. I have been tested for pretty much EVERYTHING, and nothing has come up.

My step-dad recommended that I try out this doctor that he met a while back. His name is Dr. Carlos Garcia, and works at the Utopia Medical Spa and Wellness center in Clearwater, FL. I live in Tampa, FL, so I decided to try him out yesterday. After talking with him for about an hour, he said the he thinks this is most likely a parasite infection that I contracted. After about 20-something doctors, he is the only one that has even mentioned that. He, being from Brazil, said that most American doctors do not treat this type of illness, and look the other way, when it is actually more common that they think. He informed me that I am pretty much in deep S^!t No, but, he was being serious in that he said that if I do not handle this, then I will be in more pain than I could ever imagine, and that as dangerous as these things are, he suspects the only reason it has not been worse, or fatal yet, is because I am 28 years old. He even said that it is worse than cancer, in that it is so hard to treat here in the US. It freaked me out, but it was encouraging to hear something that actually made sense, for once.

He recommended several things to start to get rid of these horrible things. These are a few I remember...

- IV vitamin (etc..) treatments
- colon therapy cleanse
- parasite meds and vitamins/supplents (I have some "Parasil" at home)
- ingesting baking soda at night with water
- changing my diet- eating very healthy, staying away from sugars/alcohol
- a silver-mix that they mixed up for me at the clinic to use as a topical for the pain (it is not nutra-silver)- but is did seem to help the hard parts of the lesion become "mushy"
- I love to eat ice, but he told me to just drink water, bc it is important to keep my body tempature higher to get rid of the parasites
- the SUN is GOOD for it- which is cool, sinve I live in Florida
- He told me to quit volunteering at the animal shelter (which I can do), and also to get rid of my cats (which I would rather die, than do.)
- he said to become anal about washing my hands
- eat with plastic forks, etc...
- get new bedding, etc... you all know that, though
- gargle with peroxide and vitamin C nightly
- Take the salt and peroxide baths, but try to use a snorkle, and stay under water in intervals of 30 minutes, or so (if your tub is big enough... mine is def. Not)
- Stop taking my birth control
- Sweat as much as possible

He went on, and on, talking about how we have to test the toxidity/acidic levels of my blood, etc... but is was alot to take in. I am going to start the treatments this week, and will let you know what works, and what does not. He seems to be a doctor that will actually see this through, though, so we are just keeping our fingers and toes crossed that this can help.

His main point was that whatever is in my body is very comfortable, and is feeling quite at home. He said I have to break the cycle, and run them out, so that they can no longer feed off me stupid parasites!

Either way, just wanted to share, and will keep you all posted on what works, and what does not. Some of it is covered under my insurance, but some is not. I am just going to start with the very necessary, and what I can afford, according to how I feel.

Thanks for you time... Hang in there!!

Take care

Jillimac

Interesting news indeed and I will agree with you and your doctor about the parasite connection as I do think that parasites are involved. It probably is a factor in many who have morgellons, even if it is not everyone. In my own case this problem is also the reactivation of some viral infections which I have posted about in the past. My question is, does this doctor plan to do any testing and if so what kind of testing? I am very interested in learning if he plans to test you for parasites and what type of parasite(s) he might be trying to find. Since he is from Brazil and probably has some experience in this area he may have some idea of what he is seeing specifically.

Is he planning to give you some chemical wormers, such as ivermectin or albendazole which is what my doctor has done? Unfortunately no testing was ordered as he is not convinced of a parasite connection. Still he gave me plenty of medication to use which just in itself I find intriguing. Sort of the why give them to me it is not parasites. He hems and haws when asked, so I have stopped inquiring why he is prescribing them as they do seem to have an effect on whatever this is.

I also used a variety of herbal wormers when first ill (sometimes with expert help) but honestly feel that this was not enough to control these parasites. I have had a lot more come out with the prescription wormers. Still it is important to not let up on using them in between using the chemical wormers. When not using chemical wormers I do switch it out with various herbal ones, again not sticking with any one type of herbal formula. Personally I think that there is nothing currently on the market strong enough to kill enough of these parasites per dose taken. I believe we need other medications and perhaps other approaches to cure these parasites. Also since the life cycle of the parasite is not known it is hard to know exactly how to cycle the chemical medications to kill them when they are most vulnerable. I do think there is an arthropod like and also a cyst like life cycle when these chemical drugs are mostly ineffective to use at all. Knowing when to use them would be very helpful IMHO which would require identification of the parasite itself. So that is why I wonder if your doctor has some suspicion about what parasites may be involved.

Thanks for sharing your experience. BTW I entirely agree with him when he told you to avoid ice and other cold foods as this is what I learned in traditional Chinese medicine. It overtaxes spleen function and in the case of these parasites I do feel it is one place they live as spleen function is tied in to stomach function too.

Jillimac -
Did he use the word "Morgellons" (or did you)?
I'm surprised we haven't seen you at the Tampa Support Group. Several doctors have come, giving their time for free. Also many other area victims who share their experiences (including treatment ones).

Maybe you both would be interested in attending? Isn't it the last sunday of the month, SS? Would you care to mention it to Dr Garcia?

Jilleemac worm your cats with Ivermectin and do it more frequently than you would normally do it.

He has not done any test yet, but he did say that he will do everything he can (research, etc..) to try to find out what kind of parasite it is. He said that is the problem with the doctors here in America (like I said earlier) is that they are not able to identify the parasites like they are able to in countries like Brazil. I think he just really wants to work on treatment to get it under control, as of now. I am going back on Monday to do a Thyroid test, adrenaline test, and a nutritional test. After that I am going home to Mississippi to see my family, where I will do a series of Colonix treatments (fun, fun... ) THEN when I get back I will hopefully be able to do some IV vitamin treatments, as well. I will find out on Monday what anti-parasite meds he is planning to put me on. I think he said that some are prescription and the others are natural. I told him about the group, and I was actually the one that mentioned the term "Morgellons". He did not seem too shocked by it. He was the one that did mention the parasites first, though.. without me saying anything, other than telling him my weird symptoms. He is a friend of my step-dad's, and my step-dad is the one that told me about him being a doctor that thinks "out of the box". which in my opinion, is just being open minded to new infections and diseases... which doctors SHOULD be, because it DOES happen every day, and so many doctors just look the other way if they can't find a diagnosis in their "doctor book". Sadsac, I will def. tell him about the meetings, and I do plan to come soon. I just was very sick, in pain and depressed... and then I was out of town for a while, too.. so I was unable to make it. I think that the big problem about this morgellon/parasite issue, is that they destroy the immune system, and allow the parasites to stay alive longer in the body, feeding on the weakest part of the body, until it is damn near impossible to fight off anything on our own. Hopefully, these test and treatments will prove to finding out if indeed, they are parasites, and what it will take to strengthen the immune system enought to kill these things, and flush them out through a series of detoxification, etc... He also is wanting me to get an MRI, just to make sure nothing else is up there hanging out in my head. He def. did not make me feel like an idiot, which was refreshing, for once. My step-dad is not a doctor, but has worked in alternative medicine clinics in the past... He also knows what I have been through the past three years, and is doing everything he can up in Mississippi to help find a way to stop this thing. I will ask Dr. Garcia if there is any way to test the parasites, so that we can at least see if there is any way to find out where they came from. i have a feeling it is going to be hard to tell- but maybe through doing some of these colonoix treatments, something will show up, and maybe he can identify it (yuck!)..... but, here is to hoping!!

take care guys

Dereck -
Yes, it is the 29th of March (last Sunday) at 2 pm. I sent a message to Karen, the nurse who attends that group to tell her about Dr. Garcia, and see if maybe Dr. Reed might call him. Believe it or not she actually worked for him at one time!
There is another doctor (Monas) in Palm Harbor, also alternative medicine, who has treated Morgellons. I think I will call him and see if he will attend. He does not believe it is parasitical, but what's new. At least 6 different theories that the experts believe is the cause. No one knows.
The important thing, until we know, is to find ways to get better. So far, it seems the people who take the natural route have better and longer lasting success than the traditional western medicine route.
Maybe we can do a little poll on this...

This was posted on another board where this individual did their own lab test and found these parasites:

" I ran a DIRP (a diagnostic) using an F-scan 2 today and got some interesting resultsl According to the diagnostic scan I am infected with Trypanosoma gamb, a parasitic infection that is said to be found only in West Africa and is contracted from the bite of the TseTse fly. Disease is said to be eventually fatal if left untreated.

Multiceps serial and Iodamoeba were also diagnosed. Both of these parasitic infections are also said to be rare ( probably because they are rarely diagnosed correctly by doctors)

I will be seeing my doctor very soon and will request testing for the above infecxtions.

Will keep you posted. "
