Default Citronella shampoo

Hey there again,

I hope everyone is keeping their spirits up for the holidays.

I'm a tad bit broke but my spirit isn't broken YET...lol.

Back to the intended subject. I don't know who it was, maybe Jo that
was mentioning using citronella as a treatment for pesky midge flies.

Well, I was visiting family and went window shopping at a high end pet store when I noticed this all natural product with CITRONELLA to repel arthropods.

I thought, hmmmmmmm....maybe this may be good for the Morg or the Morg dog owner who MITE be interested. So I bought some. Not bad, it smells like lime and is gel like in its consistancy. I thought at the very least it would keep off the dust mites. Ha

If you care, here is the natural shampoo. I had a tough time finding an ingredient list so I'm typing what it states on the 16 oz. bottle.

P.S. All I had thus far to treat my pooch was neem. It's nice to have alternatives in our arsenals sometimes.

Product Name:

Dirty and Hary Conditioning Shampoo "Repel"

Natural pet shampoo with citronella to kills bugs and fleas.
Ingredients: Water, Coconut Shampoo Base, Preservative Mixture, Fragrance, Citronella Oil. Green tea & lime.

Dirty and Hairy Conditioner

Does your dog like to run through the mud, frolic in ditches and root through debris? If so, Dirty & Hairy's shampoo will cleanse and condition while repelling bugs, ticks and fleas without the use of pyrethrin-based pesticides. This gentle, fresh-smelling shampoo will not strip essential oils from your pet's skin, and will not wash out spon-on flea and tick control products. There are no harsh detergents and the natural, humangrade ingredients are safe for people, puppies and other pets.

-------------------------------

Side note. I wonder if this stuff would have any effect on lice? hmmm
Always looking for safer alternatives for fellow sufferers.

If you are really clever....just copy the ingredients and make your own version at home.. hee hee.

Morgan

Hi Morgan,

Citronella!! I did post about it as a treatment for those that have tiny worms coming out of intact skin, like me.

Citronella not only repells flies but draws the worms out of the skin (and kills them). I put a few drops in my moisturiser if I'm not expecting company - after a couple of hours the insides of my clothes are covered in the tiny critters.

Its good stuff. Ventless Gel: The Citronella Report

Repells lice too apparently.

Excellent, Morgan (and Joey)

We have citronella candles at every garden center and super market in the summer to repel squiters and other insects. Funny how you never even think about WHY they are repelled/killed whatever until you're into thought process through necessity, huh?

Maybe we should get Marc to develope a citronella perfume/cologne for Morgies! Good to wear at parties where you don't want to get hit on by human insects LOL.

Question Citronella capsules

Has anyone ever heard of citronella capsules??

I've tried to find them on the web and failed

On capital radio this morning Jonny Vaughn said they were the best deterrent again mozzies, he said 'do what the locals do'.

I never knew citronella could be taken internally, but I guess the capsules are a different make up to the pure oil??

Please, please could anyone post if you find them. I think they would cause a huge, if not life threatening herx for anyone with myaisis (like me).

Thanks

I LOVE IT...

Also, what about a secret handshake or signal so we can find each other? Might be something that involves a couple scratches here and there?

Hi Jo, haven't found citronella capsules...however since Citronella is also called lemongrass.. I found it as a tea...

https://www.botanicchoice.com/Blowou...gs-B03LEMG.axd

hey..how 'bout sweeting the tea with manuka honey?

Lemongrass is also used in TCM...Lemongrass Essential Oil: The Properties and Uses of Lemongrass Oil in Aromatherapy | Suite101.com

Lemon grass (Cymbopogon citratus) is used for reducing fevers as well as a general digestive aid.
