Hi guys and girls, Has anyone got any treatment tips to help with the symptom of thickened skin? There's a 70 year old lady with Morgellons who is finding this a tough one (no pun intended) Thanks Jo xxx

Dettol has helped me and my 93-year-old mother. You can purchase at medichest.com. Search Dettol. We use it on problem areas full strength 20-30 minutes before bath/shower. Also use it diluted in empty dish soap bottle in shower.

I have used waterproof bandages with some success. If I leave them on for a couple of days, the moisture that accumulates soaks into the layers of skin (or whatever), and upon removing the bandage, I can simply scratch away the puffed-up wet skin (or use a tweezer to gently pull the circular rim off) and the lesion will actually go away in "reasonable" time. Not in all cases, but usually. I must look like a freak with all the bandaids all over me. I have to laugh to keep from crying sometimes. Lately, I'm frequently applying antibacterial gel (since the agrobacteria assertion), and I have had noticeably sped-up healing from that. Angie

Of all the things I've lately tried, I've focused my attention to the bacterial aspect of the condition. I have had a bad breakout on my shins for the last couple of years. I have started using dial soap, in the bar form, rubbing the bar directly on the skin, like actually forcing the soap into the lesions and they are actually improving for the first time in a couple of years. Maybe it's giving whatever is trying to get out of my skin lube enough to do so, or maybe the antibacterial of the soap is going deeper or something, but I do notice a positive reaction in a timeframe that I can be more satisfied with. After 17 years with this, there's precious little I have not tried. Bluestar ointment had this same effect for a time about 10 years ago. It tended to improve the overall texture of the skin, but that was fleeting after a while too. The Dial bar soap is still, however, having a positive effect. Probably whatever is causing this is merely retreating into my organs LOL. God, who knows. God help us all. --Angie
