According to an abstract submitted by the authors to the 47th Annual Meeting of the American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene, that was to have been held October 18-22, 1998, in San Juan, Puerto Rico, "Previous studies have suggested that diethylcarbamazine (DEC) - a drug used for filariasis control - may be useful in the treatment of mycobacterial infections. In this experiment, Mycobacterium tuberculosis was added to blood samples from two groups (healthy and diabetic) of adult non-smoking donors. Portions of each sample were tested with and without DEC at clinically achievable levels. Statistically significant DEC-related percentage decreases in BACTEC growth index...

Default Carla is a bit itchy

I have had Morgellons over twenty years. I found in 1995 that using zinc oxide (Desitin for Diaper Rash) is very good to put on lesions. Get the paste, and usually can put on at night or if you are not going out. I have pretty much slathered. It will sooth the itching, and take away a lot of the inflammation. You need to also keep your skin well moisturized. I use Honey Miel Cream and Oil from Perlier (Italian Bath and Body - Home Shopping Network). Will be on Feb 29th. I also take two tablespoons of Aunt Sue Honey (found not all honey worked - just this one for me) made from wild clover, one morning and one at night. It reduces the biting and itching. Give it a couple weeks to build up. I have been taking for about eight months and do not intend to stop. I believe this organism has a sharp point that pokes into your tissue, which is what we percieve as the bite, and then it releases a liquid, which the body has an allergic reaction to, and that causes the itching. The honey products and the zinc have given me relief. There is no cure but the zinc on your skin really quiets it down, and the honey has kept new bites and itching to a minimum. Don't know if it works for everyone, but it is worth a try. It is not toxic like some of the things people are using.
