Question Eye Makeup?

What should be done about eye makeup? Can brushes be sterilized? If so, with what?

I'm thinking maybe powered eye shadow and liner are okay if the brush can be cleaned and have a few on hand. Or you can use a disposable applicator.

Are pencils okay? I don't know how to clean those?

Thanks.

Ellen

Probably if you use pencil sharpener. I threw out all my makeup and only use what allows me to not double dip ;-) Hairbrushes should be cleaned daily. If I take an ecovie or seasalt bath (or both) I throw my brushes, washcloths underwear into the tub to soak before I let the water out! If I had a dog I'd throw it into the same water too. LOL

Hi Kritters,

I thought that the sharpener might become contaminated. Of course, I could wash the sharpener in one or more of the recommended products, sharpen the pencil. Wash the sharpener, etc.

I suppose I could dip the pencil into a cleaning solution but maybe they'd invade the pencil as they do us.

I guess, it's a matter of judgement.

Thanks for your reply.

Default Make up and watching fibers forming

Hi,

I have been concerned about my makeup as well. I have been using a powder, Bare Minerals, and I know that it is infected. Lipstick, mascara, blush etc... I have to wear makeup when I go out to functions. I am sure that I am re-infecting myself. Even if I go out and buy new, buy the time that I get it home, there is a crack in the case or a hole in the bag. So I don't know if it is even worth trying.

After my first epson salt bath, I used a night moisterizer on my face and it was as though layers of my skin were coming off. When I looked closely under the microscope, each small "clump" was actually a small blob with the customary single fiber coming out of one end. Most were familar shapes that I have seen before. If I place this "thing" between 2 pieces of 2 inch tape, many fibers begin to appear. This is all seen under the microscope. The one inital fiber works to find an escape route and you can see this by a line of celulose looking particles forming almost a tube until it gets to the edge of the tape. In the cases where I have folded the tape over, you can actually see the fiber (celulose looking line) go towards the folded end and make a turn towards an edge where it can get out. When you add more tape at the edge, you can see that it has kept going even though you could not see it with the naked eye.

In addition, it seems like a small white dot will seperate and start a new small single fiber, then more and more appear. After a while, I can see red and black fibers as well. In addition, strange brownish/orange "things" begin to appear as well.

When I have placed this in a plastic zip lock bag, I can actually see fibers extending out of the bag as well as wierd plastic looking shapes on the outside edges of the bag. None of this is visible without the microscope.

What ever I have, it refuses to be trapped. I have even placed tape on my skin where I know I feel somethig and under the microscope all you see are tiny blobs that are practically see through. However, once you fold the tape, the fibers begin to form. The speed at which this process happens is amazing.

I think that what I have seen is important and I should probably start another thread about it.

I am new and am still learning.

Tracy
