Default Myrrh (Commiphora molmol) - fit for a King

Hi Peeps! ('peeps' means people - thanks Kritts for bring this language barrier to my attention

My interest in Myrrh, was sparked by Lacey, as she's reported that it can reduce or maybe stop the problem of others itching around us.

So I've started digging on this topic and I hope others will too.

Myrrh is an oleo-gum resin from the stem of the plant Commiphora molmol. Scientific studies suggest that myrrh has antibacterial, anti-fungal and anti-inflammatory activities. Its effects are also reported in some tropical medicine/parasitology text books, which led me to believe that it is anti-parasitic too.

I've just picked one clinical study to report in this post:

A safe, effective, herbal antischistosomal therapy derived from myrrh

Schistosomiasis is a widespread helminthic disease. Treatment of schistosomiasis is based on chemotherapy with praziquantel, which is the drug of choice. Since resistance to praziquantel has been demonstrated, alternative drugs must be considered. This study was carried out on 204 patients with schistosomiasis. The drug was given at a dose of 10 mg/kg of body weight/day for three days, and induced a cure rate of 91.7%. Re-treatment of cases who did not respond with a dose of 10 mg/kg of body weight/day for six days gave a cure rate of 76.5%, increasing the overall cure rate to 98.09%. The drug was well tolerated, and side effects were mild and transient. Twenty cases provided biopsy specimens six months after treatment and none of them showed living ova.

Let's see if there's more out there. Also need to dig on where to purchase the best quality molmol around.

cheers

I used this protocol as written about by Kerry Bone in the townsend letter for doctors and patients. I used the liquid form of myrrh in the suggested amounts for 6 days and then repeated that in three weeks. This did not cure my case of morgellons although my face did drain on both sides of my mouth and it was overall pretty nasty (fortunately had some things to use and it did clear out some of the parasites in that area). I think that if one has a lot of lesions this might not be something which would be comfortable and in fact might cause a rapid herx all over the body in such cases. This is why I did not put up exactly what I did with this protocol. It is supposed to help remove parasites which reproduce in areas outside of the colon. I would have to say I think it might have helped clear some of this, but phew was the liquid strong and nasty tasting. Also I had to put it in hot water the night before, not something which myrrh takes to (it is not soluble in water) to get rid of all the excess alchohol which on an empty stomach in the am does not appeal. I figured that the liquid form of myrrh would absorb more readily than the powdered, but wow is it ever awful stuff. I am not sure it was worth it for the results, as I still have morgellons. Some reduction I guess, but not enough for a cure.

Thanks Tcm,

Sounds like I'd need to go slow and steady. I'll ask Lacey how she takes it - being from Glasgow, she's probably puts it in her whiskey ( only joking).

Interesting that you herxed. Anyone else tried it??

Hi Jo, tcmpg and folks,
I started taking the myrrh (molmol type) about 18 months ago. I read posts by 'life' on the Lymebusters forum regarding how it helped stop people itching around you. I started off taking about five drops three times a day - now I take just a few drops everyday. Like tcmpg says, it does not have a pleasant taste but it doesn't really bother me.

I put it in a little water, not whisky, Jo, and then wash it down with more water.
(Whiskey is the Irish type of the guid stuff but no alcohol for me I'm afraid two sips and I am zonked.)

I take so many supplements that I never can say with full confidence exactly what is working best but people do not react around me anymore. I think that the myrhh did help with that.
I think that what has mainly got me back on my feet, so to speak, is the Samento. I still continue to take 30 drops a day for 12 days stop for 1 and half days and then start up again.
It took me a long time to work up to that large dosage.

I'll be interested to hear how you get on with the myrrh, Jo.

love hannah

Seasprite... it's not the power of suggestion... the people around me never knew I had anything wrong and they were all hitting their faces and wiping their eyes etc... It was so embarrassing.. It happened so much when I was at choir and the person next to me was obviously itching like mad.. It then happened when I sat next to someone on a train... Luckily does'nt happen any more. Even the family noticed it, but they thought it was because they knew about it (ie power of suggestion) but it is'nt , it's real. Weird. Millyx

Just thought to remark, that I think that in small amounts (drops in water) the taste of liquid myrrh would be tolerable. I was taking a much larger amount in the morning on an empty stomach. If I had not let it sit over night after adding hot water to dissolve the alcohol in it, I doubt if I could have faced that in the morning (that is how I had to use it to follow the protocol). Even so, I had to hold my nose and chug-a-lug it down. Phew, and I thought TCM brews were bad.

I was reading this the other day.

http://www.theherbdepot.com/standard...h-herb_44.html

Searching around, Myrrh seems to be good for mouth and throat infections and for cleansing the uterus. It has heating properties, so maybe it increases blood circulation??

I read in that link and in other publications that long term use can cause kidney damage - some sources say, 'minor' damage.

I still want to try it short term to see if irritation of others stops - once finished with the other meds etc.

I'm still outputting the fibres and white specs. I've witnessed the white specs irritating people's skin. I tracked them landing on brown skin/black hair which provoked scratching in exactly the same place.

Default Morgie myrrh trial

My tincture of myrrh arrived today, strength 1:3 with alcohol.
Dosing: 10 drops 3x a day.

I will feed back any changes over the next week. The whole reason for trying this is that 2 morgies reported that it stops others itching around them.

Here's hoping......
