The Saga continues. I presently have lesions on my head that are WORSE than any I ever had in the beginning that lead to me being dx with lyme. I felt like it was some kind of food allergy. I thought it might be soy. or milk. I still think milk might be an allergen. I have huge marble/kidney bean (well they feel big when they are swelled up on your head!) size bumps on the back of my head. I had two large ones today behind my ears and the doctor said they were NOT lymph nodes, which is what I had thought. He felt they were too high up to be lymph nodeas and he though ti might be staph. So he gave me kephlex. No swab, no blood test. After teh appointment i wanted to test to see if it might be soy, so I ate some of the same things I had easten the alst few days to see if that was the cause. Not tofutti fake cream cheese, I was sure that was it. I took one dose of keplex. then I ate soem cheese! (i admit it was past it's prime, i even cut off some molded area.) and within minutes my head swelled up in lots more spots the size of beans and marbles. behind my ears and all over my scalp. i took some vitamin C, this made it worse. i called a friend who knows pharmaceuticals. I took 2 ibuprofen (total 400 mg) and 2 loaratidine (total 20 mgs) the swelling has decreased some but it still hurts. how do i figure out if it is staph or allergic reaction to the cheese, and if allergic reaction, waht is causeing the bumps and could the cheese have had staph on it??? how do you test for that???

It is about 3 weeks since that MAJOR flare up, and I am continuing to have small flare ups. It tingles when I have sugar. The sores weep. I tried putting oregano oil on them, it stung for maybe 10 minutes, then it went away, but I noticed large amounts of PUS coming out. I went to the docs again they gave me an antibiotic ointment (very stikcy and greasey) to put on it, but it still hurts and I still have some swollen "beans" on the back of my head, particularly behind my ears. it's very frustrating.

Seasprite - They are treating you for a bacterial infection.. but they need to be treating you for a fungal infection! The fact that cheese and sugar both makes it react tells me its fungal. Since I have a high candida and high fungal load, I react to all kinds of molds and yeasts in food and in the environment. Cheese may contain mold, even if you can't see it, which is why the anti-candida diet recommends that most cheeses are to be avoided. Sugar feeds fungus, which is why you are feeling the tingling sensation? Can you switch to an anti-candida diet? This should help some, and you should continue to use anti-fungals on the sores (like oregano.. you can also try some diluted tea-tree oil and there are a lot of other things similar you can try).. can you get back to the doc and ask them to culture it? I would also try to tell them that this may be fungal and not bacterial...

the thing that seemed to help the lesions on my head was Bactroban in tube and Bactrum pills, the kephlex did nothing. I haave had a couple of lesions on my head persist on and off all fall and winter.

It seems bacteria is closely associated with fungi. Chronic Sinusitis—Actually a Yeast Infection The teams are working against us. We have to smarten up. Kritts |

I saw this update, glad bactrum helped someone out.... this medication was a nightmare for me... suicidal side effects where so severe when I was on this last summer so warning when anyone does try this med, to make sure someone is aware that this is a real side effect and that it is always wise to have your medical information available and to have at least a cpl ppl closest to you know what they can help you watch out for in case these side effects creep up unfort. when these play with your mind you can't always take yourself off bc your not able to process that they are messing you up. Another side effect I had was that the bactrum caused my lips to swell (allergic reaction) although I loved my new lips it was not good for me LOL... I thought that the new lips were from the vitamins funny now not so funny then... just some food for thought Xoxo, Meg

Do any of you have any updates? I was virtually free of all head lesions, then today, a family bday party and I had some cake, i also had some cream cheese and I am itching on my head again. I had one lesion on top of myhead that was almost cleared, then I would pick it and it woudl come off and again, it has the crusty staph look to the scab (lot of orangey material in it, not just regular scab.) Oh and last week i pulled some kind of small worm liek thing out of a pimple looking thing on my chest. the "pimple" was there for a few days then one day i look down at it and it's like bloody and i didn't pick it, and there was a worm like thing comign out of it, and I pulled it out with a tweezer. I saved it... what do I do wiht it?? who do i send it to>>>???
