Miconazole and Nystatin

Originally, years ago I thought this was a fungus of sort. So I tried using Miconazole Nitrate (Desenex) spray on skin and it helps much short run. This is an OTC drug in the states.

Also, a friend awhile ago gave me Nystatin cream (usually for yeast infections). This works in a similar way. However, it is by prescription only and I may try to score my next stash from Lyme Dr. or Dermatologist.

Hi Evan,

That may kill the fungus superficially on the dermal layers, but I believe fungal skin infections are manifestations of an internal fungi problem.

Don't know if it "kills" anything or not. Myself, I had tried Itraconazole, and other other systemic antifungals without much avail.

My thoughts were along the line of azole and nitrate group having chemical reaction to help flatten lesions; probably just in the way Nizoral shampoo works in the treatment steps (in addition to fighting tinea). Then again, I am quite an amateur and have been wrong many times before. I did read Miconazole has action against some kind of amoeba. So anything is possible.

Let me restate that....although it's reported that some diseases are in fact only on the skin, (I have my doubts) most are internal and are cutaneously manifested. There are 8,000 types of parasites and many are exploring human territory (why limit your horizons, right? ) and liking it. They are not all going to respond to a particular medication or natural remedy.

This is why naturopaths and other natural healers are getting such a bum rap in many cases...because they literally do not know what they are doing. Just like there are clueless medical doctors.
