| Surprised to see silver suggested as a cure We use silver in swimming pools to kill chemically resistant algae But i assumed it was poisonous Then not so surprised to find reading posts confused and bamboozled the bejesus out of me So I looked it up and the pool industry has done plenty of research on it Firstly I should say im a little embaressed that having sold and installed these things I didnt know much about how they worked. Just that they did. Its important to use in conjuction with copper. Copper weakens the cell so silver can get in there and work its magic Its not poisonous as I would have thought. Nasa developed it to purify drinking water. Its not rocket surgery, you just run a current through the lumps of silver and copper while in water. You can buy them at the pool shop. too easy. I know it kills algae because ive seen it, but apparently it kills bacteria and virus' too. Dont know about parasites. Would have thought not. But who knows? Anyhow it cuts off their food source and that always slows the little bastards down. Is there anything the pool industry doesnt know? The pool shop is a cheap place to buy diotamaceous earth for mud packs too by jingo !

| I disagree. Unless u ingest it its a complete waste of money. Do you know what it is? fossils. fossils about 4 microns big, we use it to filter debris in pools and if it was toxic there would be lots of dead pool men You dont sell the stuff by any chance do you?

| Which brings up another point. I have asked a while back here on the forum if anyone knows the differences between the silvers (colloidal, sovereign, nutri, etc.) some say nutrisilver is bad, but don't say why or link to evidence to support why it's bad, and I have yet to read anything about the differences. So how are we supposed to know? At least, if someone knows something for sure about why something is bad for us, give evidence so we can be knowledgable. thanks, Kritters |

It is important to recognize that not all forms of diatomaceous earth are non-toxic and safe to use for organic gardening and agriculture. DE that is used for swimming pool filters is toxic to humans and will not control insects." http://www.safesolutionsinc.com/Diatomaceous_Earth.htm And why would pool men be dead by now are they eating pool filters? Something can also be toxic and do alot of damage without killing you. Theres just one of many links that basicly say the same thing ![]()

| Friski !! I said food grade is a waste of money for mudpacks. We use mudpacks externally here, Im sure you're right that its toxic to eat, but i wasnt suggesting you eat it, for christs sake. Dinner parties at your place must be popular. You can make mudpacks with it, the bugs damage themselves in the fossils apparently. Food grade is a rip-off unless you want to eat it. And as far as the silver sickness goes I wouldnt have a clue but it sounds preferable to the itchy show. The main point of interest as I see it, is not what type of silver you use( which is probably marketing hype anyhow- i mean silver's silver its an element) But that you have to use it in conjunction with copper for it to be effective I dont advocate it, ive only used it in pools. I was trying to clarify what to me was a confusing bunch of conflicting posts And all ive done is create some more, hehe, but i do use and recommend beer for temporary relief of eveything
