Ivermectin treatment / side effects

Hi folks,
My doctor has just prescribed a treatment of ivermectin. Anyone tried this? What were the results and side-effects.
Please give me any information on this treatment.

The Drs. in CA prescribed it for daily use for a month and the insurance co. said no way!! It would cost 1000 for the month.

I used pharmaceutical vet quality last winter with no side effects. I had no lasting improvement from it, but apparently 3 days is not enough. I did force my local MD to give it for river blindness last winter and again, I had brief relief at the time and full symptoms again after the 3 days.

I hope that helps. Just my experience.

Thanks, Melissa. Other feedback I've received is pretty positive. I believe that more people are now being prescribed the de-wormers.

Hannah, I have been on Ivermectin now for about 3 months... daily for 2 months and now twice a week. Difficult to say if it has helped as I'm on so many things, but generally think I'm getting better.... feel scared saying that, in case the 'critters' are listening ! lol. Luv, Hilly x

BTW I also use the liquid veterinary type... get it from the States... pills far too expensive and no doctor over here would give it to me ...H

lacey,Dr W prescribed me ivermectin 1 pill every 6th day.Have had good effect.Worms have come out of nose, sides of mouth like it was a marathon.Bought infra red lamp today fron LIdl £6.99 sat under it for 10mins and a few more exited my nose.Have had no bad side effects from taking it.
Got it from net site Dr w recommended.

i get ivermectin once a month now , take multiple pills 5 days apart 3x monthly. sporadic bursts are better than daily taking it. monthly monitoring i get, because my doctor likes to make sure my liver/kidneys okay. i have had no side effects with the sporadic bursts. i started antibiotics alone, then a couple of months later a 4 month period isonazid was added (i am off of it now). isonazid is an anti tuberulocis medicine. a month a two later the ivermection sporadic bursts were done. my meds have been tweaked and adujusted constantly during my course of treatment, so each patient and their set of problems might have their own streamlined treatment. the reese dewormer works well, this is ten buck at walgreens over the counter. but i do not think this otc med should be taken daily at all. once a month peraps. in other words occasionally. or once every few weeks. this is to prevent the disease from adapting, and less hard on liver. i also take diflucan once a week to combat the fungal aspect of the disease. Thank you - you have put my mind at rest a bit. After one horrendous herx I am a scaredy custard.
I think I will probably be getting the same advice as you, Patrice.

Do it-better out than in.
One came out of my buttock (luv that word) tonight-I reckon it was the one that ate me knickers cos it had elastic in its north and south.
Still coming out me nose they look like whiteheads but obviously not.They don't half come out at some speed too,but they do seem dead thank goodness.If you have a scope take a gander at them.
