| Well, it was brought to my attention, and it was first thing upon waking up... and I didn't realize that it was a bacteria that I was looking at... We had a conversation about this being a 'black speck' and did the Lymes patient emit black specks?, so therefore, we ruled out that what my specimen was related to Lymes. However, it is puzzling and needs to be looked at a little closer, it might help the Lymes' folks later? This was the post: I can think of 10 questions as to why they look so close... | Yes, I remember. But wasn't it Juell? I think who mentioned that we can't see bacterial forms at 100x?? and that's why we thought we are seeing a fungus then? Anyway something like that. Katinka |

| Oh yeah, that's right... I'm glad you're around, Pablo. |

| this is a earlier post: Kammy, because you can SEE those specimens grow in your petri dish I believe it's a fungus. BB related bacteria showing a similar form cannot be seen at that microscope level you normally use. This needs higher microscopical levels IMO. I don't believe Lyme patients "lose" such black specks....but fungi release black spores so called conidia that can be seen with the naked eye under certain circumstances. Hyphae buildung up a Mycelium CAN be seen if they build up to a certain size according to my dermatologist. Katinka ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ and this is what Juell posted: A matter of scale and magnification.... Kantinka, I think you are correct.......the Bb colony would be much smaller than we might be able to view in a petri dish. While the morphology of the colony is similar to A. Niger's growth, I think the scale is wrong. A Bb bacterium is only 10-20 micrometers long and only 2-3 micrometers wide! (Duh! I had JUST pointed that out to Kritters!) Sorry to mislead you, Kammy. It was way past my bed time! But all of this brings up a REALLY important scientific hook we MUST address.....size....scale! We have to get a good way to compare pictures using a reference scale. Micrometers or millimeters are a world apart in size! So...each picture should include accurate measuring references as well a listing of the power used on the scope. Many reference materials will list the size of the organism, which is how they are able to distinguish one from the other, and all micro pics list the magnification so you can keep size in perspective! Now.....I MUST PLEAD WITH YOU.........PLEASE STOP BEING SOOOOO FASCINATING, LADIES!!! I HAVE TO GET MY HEAD WRAPPED AROUND my job and stay away from Fungi (and fun gals!) till the show is over! I HAVE to get away from this forum for a month, but I'm so afraid to miss an episode of this "reality show"! ![]() Will I be able to pull up the whole thread months later so I can catch up when I get back? (or are they archived in a document format to download and read when I travel?) Keep up the fantastic work! ~ Juell We kinda "dumped" the bacteria theory then LOL Kat |

| Are you talking about the "pepper" looking specks that bite your skin? My specks were one continuous coiled up fiber, a dark greenish color that looked black to the naked eye.... Let's not throw a red herring Red herring - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia in here to start others to only look at the fungal aspect of "morgellons". If this is man-made (which I believe it is), the "man" is trying to get us off-track. Whatever "M" is, I believe it can morph in to anything. Keep your minds open. In the white light, ~jonsi
