Herx Question

Good morning too all!

My Lyme Dr put me on amoxicillon while wating for the Lyme results. He said that if I had Herx it would mean that I probably have Lyme and didn't want to waste time. I have only been taking them for a few days and was curious as to how long it might take till I may have the Herx reaction? What are all of the possible signss that this is happening? God Bless

Well being that I have had fibro and I have done many things to help that I would say about 48 hours it will start, it takes the antibioctics 72 hours to fully to it's job. Make sure you are taking to add to your diet a yogurt with live active cultures. Hope this helps. Unclear

well lizzette, herx reactions can vary i am on iv atiobiotics, herx reactions i have had, joint pain, skin crawling, a burn herx reaction with the skin, which aloe vera gel stops. a herx reaction is a flare up of symptoms, which happens when a good amount of disease is killed off. some weird things happened to me when took antibiotics at first: my face shed greenish grey dead skin and was swollen for about five days. of course i guess not be wise to talk of morg symptoms to doc. i would guess he would mean any flare up of lymes symptoms as a herx. but i wish you all the best, (LC).

Thanks for the info.-I already eat yogurt on a daily basis and take acidophillus. It's only been a day and a half-sounds weird but I sure do hope it happens so at least I don't have to have more tests. LOL

Thanks for the info.-As I wasn't sure if I would get flu like symptoms or just feel worse than usual. I sure hope I Herx. Will save on a lot of time and more tests. Regarding my dr's visit-I said nothing about bugs-I just told him about the lyme sysmptoms, but added the sores on ankles and wrists that I got and that they were itchy and stung. I figure the better I get to know him and trust him, I may add a few things-but very carefully-don't want him to think I am mental. Hopefully what he prescribes will help so that I may not have to go there. I think it's a matter of them being open minded,educated to think outside the box and developing a relationship with the patient. I have switched for him to be my GP also. Just my own observations as how to handle this.

Glad I read about the Herx. I was on amoxicillin also for an absessed split tooth. fun. Last dose was day before yesterday. Now, I have new lesionsa on my upper arms and one is biting the crap out of me. Could this be herxing?

yes kritters it could be herxing. this stuff has a lif cycle also. a one month lifcycle all the fun for a lady begins with the onset of her period. herxing is syptoms getting worse as a fightback in the face of getting better. if have any needs, please pm me i would love to help. ann, (LC).
