Default Herpes Simplex 1 (cold and canker sores)

Just curious -

How many people have a history of cold sores or canker sores, and did they get better or worse (or stay the same) after you got this monster?

I have written about this in the past. I was diagnosed with reactivated herpes simplex 1 and HHV6 (roseola) by my infectious disease doctor. I can definitely say I was worse after I got Morgellons symptoms, because I got lesions from it all over my back which started to dry up immediately after starting acyclovir. Despite herbal usage for three years herbs alone did not touch the viruses. Many of those herbs, used as strong teas from raw bulk herbs, are used to treat viral infections. This area on my back seemed to be just lesions without the addition of parasitic involvement which I saw elsewhere (legs, feet, arms, hands).

It is fifteen months later (since starting acyclovir for the viral infections) and I have no new lesions for over six months though I did have one open on my leg right after I started the medication. I believe that also involved a large parasite deep in the muscle. After numerous treatments with various cancer skin salves it finally healed up. Now any areas that seem questionable, as if something is under the skin, will stop immediately when I apply the mildest of the cancer salves I know about (non-scaring). Occasionally the roof of my mouth feels sore or I feel canker sores on the inside of my cheeks, but I do believe this is related to the viral component and is not parasitic (though way back I did see parasites in my gums and they were visible).

So I am crossing fingers that between the acyclovir, the ivermectin as needed this is about under control, even if not cured. I have various ways of determining when to use the ivermectin, one of which is my head starts to feel full and I get a pretty good stomach ache. The intervals when it is necessary to use it has lengthened. Now I only need a dose about once every four weeks. Hopefully over time it will lessen even more. Treating the viral component means that I am gradually seeing energy levels rise. The viral infections were reactivated from being exposed to neurotoxins like ciguatera which were in the fish which precipitated all my symptoms.

I still use some herbal formulas and I feel that helps as well. Sometimes using Old Amish Dewormer is all I need for the occasional stomach ache. I keep switching around various formulas for parasites and for other areas of the body.

Not sure I completely understand. Do you think that the Morgellons lesions are Herpes Simplex 1 (to some degree)?

I have always had canker and cold sores, for decades before this monster reared its ugly head. They were more connected to stress than anything else, and were kept in good control with acyclovir.

I haven't used that med for many years now, but I still will get a cold sore now and then with increased stress. I didn't see any overlap with Morg lesions and cold sores.

Some people have said that they always had cold sores, but that they stopped after they got Morgs. Just doing an "informal survey".

btw - I take lysine every day now, and it does a good job of preventing them.

I asked my doctor about this (could everyone of us have not just HSV1, but perhaps other herpes type infections). His answer? It is possible that not everyone has these types of infections, but everyone could have a different infection. Therefore it is necessary to find a good doctor and get tested. He tested me for 4 herpes infections (he looked at my back and to him it looked like herpes). The other two I was tested for (besides HSV1 and HHV6 which I was positive for) were HSV2 and HHV7 which I did not show. He said testing in this manner, and not for every possible virus, was enough as the medication was the same for all of them.

Nearly everyone has been exposed to HSV1 in childhood. All those kisses babies and young kids get from adoring adults usually ensures this. Still if the virus remains dormant no harm done. It is only when something triggers an active infection (such as when adults get shingles from herpes-zoster or HHV-3) that lesions form. As 2mf and I and others discussed in the past we wonder about the viral components being added to plants and sold as food. Who knows?

I think it would be a good idea if more people were tested for herpes type infections as, to extrapolate a bit, a lot of the dead dolphins which are being found in various places do have active herpes infections along with lesions, tumors and parasites (I think all this can tie into some skin cancers as well). They also frequently have bacterial infections. I figure they are canaries for us, as what is happening to them involves environmental factors as well. Also no one will try to label them DOP, to interject a bit of humor here. So scientists try to diagnose what is going on with them--what a concept. Here's a link I started about the dolphins:

Does this sound as if it could be Dolphin morgellons?

Still I do not think my doctor is saying everyone has this same illness picture. Far from it. I like the fact he does not try to hop around from medication to medication, but kind of finds out what to do and sticks with it until the next stage, if needed. If in treating one type of infection it reveals another layer of infections (say bacterial) then that will be dealt with next. So far what he is doing (the two medications) and what I am doing (herbs) is controlling this fairly well, though I admit to needing some additional time to get further along before I can say I am in complete remission. I think this is not an easy illness and that is why so many people have different symptoms. Also I was quite ill when I got this so that probably that factors in as well.

Gosh, Robin -

I don't know what to make of lip situation, but those styes sure sound WIERD! I never heard of a stye "falling off" and would have to think they were Morg-related.

But you don't have either of these happening anymore? And did they precede Morgs?

Hey SS,

I'd like to put all the herpes info under one thread. I just searched herpes here and found 126 THREADS containing herpes discussions. TCM posted this info which is really informative Natural Treatments for Genital Herpes, Cold Sores and Shingles a while ago. I started a poll under 'theories and speculations' and if you check it out, a very high percentage of those who participated are a 'yes' and that's not including the possible 'no's who might not even realize how many types and names for herpes there are.

It interesting that this is the first post I read today, because right now I have this amazing outbreak of three on one side and two on the other side of my chin. Nothing is helping that I've used so far. I put some baking soda mixed with peroxide on and the weeping and oozing is constant until I mop it up and put something else on. Maybe I should just keep on doing that. So it occurred to me that these 'outbreaks' I've had when my body is overly-acidic (stress causes acid too SS) or when I go in the sun too long or intensity is too strong most of my adult life....always in the same two areas...are in fact, herpes. What kind, I do not know. but for me...I hate these things because like our lesions, I cannot squeeze anything out except a clear liquid so I know it's not a bacterial infection (although it can become that as well if I don't keep it clean). And looking at the largest one on my chin, it actually looks something like what is shown in BO's and Dragonfly's pictures.

I do believe that Herpes is a player in Morgellons.
