| Also, SS... I posted before but worth repeating here that when I first got this chit, my lips became SO broken out from herpes (about ten upper and ten lower) I looked like Angelina Jolie (around the lips anyway ) which I had never had before or since. Usually I only had one or two at most.i can't imagine that Morgellons per se (whatever it is) alone would create an acidic environment for that to push herpes out of dormancy so such a degree, so I am guessing that herpes is a genetic component of morgellons. I think I am going to revise the poll and see if I can change the wording to include all the different forms/strains of herpes. I'm gonna check out what Venetia wrote again first. Be back in a while. | I just looked up another link on BHT which is being used to help control herpes outbreaks and is not something I have tried. Evidently there are some anecdotal claims for good results with the use of this preservative. Still I think before using any supplements which may not be needed it would be good to be sure this is a major problem in your morgellons issue. In my own experience, natural controls and supplements have not been sufficient. Of course that may not be true for everyone. Anyway, here's a discussion about BHT, includes discussion of the lipid coating found on certain viruses: BHT and Herpes, HIV, Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, SARS, West Nile Virus, Influenze

| That is one valuable piece of information, TC. Thank you. I'm going to see if my health food store/pharmacy has it. Or whole foods. If not, I'm going to order it. I wonder how anti-oxidants differ in their effectiveness. Like, for instance how the anti-oxidative powers of BHT compare to that of the berry drinks now touted for anti-oxidative values. Kritts |

| You're welcome, Kritts. I only hope this information will be of use to people and not cause any side effects. Personally I am glad to have had a diagnosis before trying to add this in. I may try it, but since I am on medication just use the daily antioxidant dose. Here's one brand from iherb at 38% off: Life Enhancement, Durk Pearson & Sandy Shaw's BHT Plus , 100 Capsules - iHerb.com Pat, you may want to note (if you don't already know) this could help your chickens with Newcastle disease. "...paper published in Science showing that BHT could prevent chickens from dying of Newcastle disease." See permalink 12 below for complete BHT article. Here's the abstract of the Science Magazine article: Butylated hydroxytoluene protects chickens exposed to Newcastle disease virus -- Brugh 197 (4310): 1291 -- Science Butylated hydroxytoluene protects chickens exposed to Newcastle disease virus M Brugh Jr Dietary butylated hydroxytoluene, an antioxidant widely used in food and feed processing, prevents mortality of chickens exposed to virulent Newcastle disease virus and prevents the serological response of chickens exposed to avirulent Newcastle disease virus. This chemoprophylactic effect is evident when chickens are fed diets containing concentrations of butylated hydroxytoluene normally used for antioxidant purposes (100 to 200 parts per million of total diet).

| Just another thing, since we are all worried about flu viruses which are currently of some concern, also notice that the link posted above about BHT says that this may help some types of influenza viruses: More recent studies have confirmed the anti-viral activity of BHT against many different human and animal viruses including CMV (cytomegalovirus), (3) pseudorabies (4), genital herpes (5), HIV (6) and some strains of influenza.(7) A few of the viruses that have a lipid envelope and may be affected by BHT include herpes simplex I, herpes simplex II, herpes zoster, ckytomegalovirus, west nile virus, HIV virus, influenza virus, hepatitis B and C viruses, avian flu influenza virus and the SARS virus. Remember that BHT has not been clinically tested and approved to treat these infections. The article also mentions that there are some books which discuss this in more depth: BHT is discussed in Mann and Fowke's book "Wipe Out Herpes with BHT" and Pearson and Shaw's book "Life Extension".( (9)

| I have been over exposed to toluene, as I worked at a Chemical company for years. I didn't "work" with toluene but I likely walked through it's puddles a million times in high heeled shoes. My first shrink was convinced that I had been over exposed to toluene, nice guy but a major nutter. Possible tho' it's in jet trails , newspaper ink, home building products, waterproofing, etc. Gave up on the shrink route, did that for my family. These Shrinks actually think WE are all crazy... I have only met one that could be considered a babysitter for my child. I would be calling home every minute and not be physically more than 30 yards away! I have tried to avoid all toluene involvement for many years, but I live in an air traffic pattern. We will likely never know a specific cause, it has got to be an accumulation of "stuff"! ( stuff is my adjective for the God knows what in this world) Last edited by lamb; July 26th, 2009 at 09:43 PM. |
