Default Fibres that looked like feathers

Hi ...Did anyone ever get amongst white, red, blue fibres, anything that looked like teeny feathers, I could see them with naked eye under bedside lamp...I think I've spent the last 15 yrs or so holding things between tweezers under bedside lamp... never clutch the fibres between fingers as heat will make any fibre move, even a piece of cotton wool fibre..... Hey Spotster! YES! In fact, I think I put some under the scope and took pictures. If you go back to my recent photos I entered the other day, there is one long fiber that has jointed connections equally placed. That's what I saw in each fiber of the feather! This is so weird. Here, I'll post it again.....

Hi Kritts...yes weird..I just did a post about missing genes, but its not been edited so someone must of posted about it before...I read somewhere that people with Morgellons have a missing gene, have you heard of this...Spotster PS: How long have you had this awful disease? looking back on old posts I keep wondering if those people have got better as I dont recognise a lot of the names, I would hope I dont abandon the site if I ever find a complete cure....S.D.

S.D. -
I wonder about that a lot - what's happened to the people who have "disappeared"? Several possibilities - got better and moved on, died, learned to live with it and found being on these boards hurting rather than helping. The third possibility would be more from the psychological standpoint...not being able to put it out of your mind, seeing the pictures, etc.
I personally can't look at the pictures, on a lot of levels. I try not to focus too much on this (don't usually succeed, though!).

Default Totally agree...

Yes, Spotster... I've expressed the same. It would be awesome if people who have been cured would let us know they are okay, as well as people who just up and left would let us know why....

WE WORRY ABOUT THEM, DAMMIT!

I've had this physical enigma for about 3 years, but looking back there were so many signs of my pre-disposition to it or at least symptoms which were there and became FULL BLOWN into Morgellons for one or more of many reasons. One in particular now that I look back is the symmetrical 'acne' outbreaks I would get...Just one on each cheek and/or just above chin. Granted, it could just have been ordinary hormonally induced outbreaks. But to answer your question, it started in a big way when I had the itching and biting on my upper left arm which I thought was chiggers from cleaning out the DECAYING debris in my shrubs!!! (sound familiar?)

I'll check out your post about the missing gene. I know I could be the missing link, but I'll see about the genes

The missing (or mutated) gene issue. I don't know if you are referring to the issue that was raised somewhere about the genetic mutation that makes some people "immune" to HIV might make some vulnerable to Morgellons. In other words, if you get AIDS then you can't get Morgellons.
Well, last month I spoke to a guy who had both. It was the first case that I'd heard of, so I guess that's a dead end. I don't know if that's the thing you were thinking about.
SS

ps - The genetic mutation that makes one unable to get HIV is that the allele that HIV latches onto is mis-shaped. The virus can't latch onto anything and so cannot "infect", i.e., get into the cells and replicate. So it's not that the immune system attacks and kills the virus.

Hi SS & Kritts...the gene I meant had a number like gene 203 for example, it said that people missing that gene were likely to get Morgellons, I've looked through 52 pages....100s of sites but cant find it..will keep trying...Spotters

Could this be what you are seeking (info which was originally published on the rare diseases website):

Jan Smith's Letter Regarding Nanotech Diseases AKA Morgellon's

"NIH: Morgellons officially recognized as a disease?
NIH website lists chromosome responsible as 1q42 (duplication/trisomy of 1q42 11 q42 12)

(7/23/2007) The National Institues Of Health in the United States list Morgellons as a genetically caused disease

According to the NIH website found at aspensys.com
Morgellons is caused by either duplication or trisomy of the chromosome 1q42 11 q42 12.
However when reading the articles dating back more than 10 years at pubmed.gov it appears that these articles do not describe the symptoms known from Morgellons accurately.

However the NIH website clearly states "To learn more or to report suspected cases, call the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Morgellons information and voice mail line at 404-718-1199." and the page itself is reported as having been last modified on "Wednesday, July 19, 2006". We are awaiting a statement from the NIH and will report on it as soon as we receive a reply.

01/27/2008 Update:

This webpage was found by a Morgellons sufferer and posted to several Morgellons related websites to inform the public. Upon the page being discovered and posted the CDC and/or the NIH immediately removed all copies of this page. Cached copies of the page also disappeared within days. To date there has been no official denial of the information contained on the webpage. Due to the absence of an official press release the public is left to ponder the meaning of the page.

A rather curious set of events has recently unearthed the fact that several Morgellons sufferers have verified 1Q42 genetic defects."

Default Call me a skeptic

But I'm one of the most open-minded people you'll meet. How on earth could it be determined that people with Morgellons have a genetic predisposition when in fact most people (probably 99.999%) have not even had any dna testing? Give me a break. When I googled the missing gene, one thing that kept hitting me was terms such as 'bi-polar'...'schizophrenic'....and I just stopped there.

What a crock.

Kritters -
If you google the whole sequence, 1q42 11 q42 12, "dwarfism" comes up....duh...I'm all of 5'2". Something is definitely wrong with this.
