Hello, I'm starting this thread because I can't find one started already...just dedicated to all kinds of arthritis. Apparently there are over 200 kinds of rheumatic diseases or conditions – often referred to as arthritis or musculoskeletal diseases. These include Lupus, Fibromyalgia and Gout, which surprised me. Arthritis is a problem for Morgellons and Lyme sufferers and so many people in the world these days. I just bumped into a friend in a supermarket who has Psoriatic arthritis. Here's abit about it: "Psoriatic arthritis (PsA) is a form of joint inflammation affecting people with the skin condition, psoriasis. It causes inflammation in and around the joints. The exact cause of PsA is unknown. In most cases the arthritis develops after the appearance of psoriasis." Arthritis Care : Psoriatic arthritis I'd never heard of it before and then looked at her arms - they had lesions on. Someone gets a skin problem and then gets joint inflammation. It may all fit in the puzzle some day. Jo xxx

In Chinese medicine all arthritis is seen as being some kind of dampness problem, either damp heat, where the joint is swollen and reddened (sometimes the patient is feverish) or cold damp. The symptoms are treated to improve the patient. I have seen crooked finger joints straighten out in the TCM clinic I used to attend while patients were treated. Amazing what over time the correct herbs and acupuncture may accomplish.

Poor sis. How old is she Carls, if you dont mind me asking Seems women suffer alot with knees....more than men I think. Is there a link between arthritis and hair loss??? or is that a stupid question. just a thought xxx

Hair in TCM has to do with Kidney function. And kidneys could be a source of dampness problems (one anyway) in the body. Hair growth is also tempered by the blood circulation which has to do with liver function. All of which declines with age (why some folks have severely thinning hair) and illness (remember the folks who had high fevers in the old days would often lose all their hair). According to the TCM view one reason to avoid excess sugar is to avoid losing hair, as sugar injures the kidneys when used to excess.

Jo and all, Isn't anyone getting the sense that all these things are caused by parasites, which thrive in dampness? Question is only which parasites. I'm finding that hair is effected by many parasitic disorders. As you said, Jo...it all may fit in the puzzle some day. Today is the day. xoxoxo Kritts

Hi there everybody.... I used to have terrible pain in my hands and wrists but that's a lot better... it's migrated to my knees now... I don't know if anyone's seen the DVD ' Under Our Skin.' but there' a doctor on there researching Lyme. He got some brains out of a hospital mortuary of people who had had dementure, altzeimers and MS, and found that about (i think without looking at it again) that 7 out of 11 had the Borrellia burdoferi spirella in them... makes one think how many alzeimers and dementure patients actually have Lyme... Sorry I have'nt been around much lately... too much on my mind and a bit depressed, but still thinking about you all. Hillyxx Carla... will come and see you in Liverpool when you've really got rid of the Beetles !! Safer for you to to come to me ...xxx lol Last edited by hilly; August 1st, 2008 at 10:03 AM.

Well, Jo, Lupus in TCM relates back to the heart, at least according to the TCM master with whom I informally studied. Often the heart in such a person is overheating, due sometimes to yin deficiency which in turn effects correct blood flow (blood feeds the hair and Western medicine sees abnormalities in the blood in Lupus patients as well, anemia is often a part of this picture). Every TCM lupus picture would differ as symptoms differ in each patient. Of course the heart function regulates all the other organs in the body too. This is why I would say that although parasites are a part of the picture of why we are sick, it is only a part of the picture. A body in correct balance with proper metabolic function should be able to recover easily from parasites. It is because our bodies most likely are not in good balance (especially I believe everyone with this has dampness issues) that all these other illnesses ensue. Poor metabolic function eventually leads to stagnation of blood and lymph and we all know that whatever disease (viruses, fungi, bacteria, parasites) is involved that it will thrive in stagnant water found in the body. Still to agree with Kritters in one respect, yes I do believe there is a parasitic infection involved with morgellons. However also I believe that the root problem is poor metabolic function and balance which allows this parasite to thrive. TCM does not apply the same type of disease label to a particular function. So a Western diagnosis of Lupus would be treated differently according to the symptoms of the disease. Old saying is " Same disease different symptoms and treatments, different diseases same symptoms and treatment.
