Default Scabies, headlice and other little beastlies!

I have just joined this site today and have spent quite a few hours reading through everything, so I dont know if I'm being a bit premature in offering my thoughts at this stage.

My problems started after I caught scabies ( which I am 100% certain it was for various reasons) and I am pretty certain that this is what has caused all my problems.

From reading quite a few posts on here, it seems that I am not alone in believing that an original actual beasty infestation did occur, and that i developed morgellons after this.

so is it possible that that these various little creatures are the carriers of this disease ? similar to how lymes disease is transmitted (would also explain the link to lymes disease)

another thought on the matter, I notice a lot of people saying they were misdiagnosed with having scabies or something else, is it possible that the first time you went to the doc that you actually did have it ? and then morgellons developed after you treated the condition ? but because the symptons persisted you it was assumed the original diagnosis was wrong ?

going back to lymes, it seems that it very hard to detect the agent that causes it and the clinicians know what they are looking for, so if morgellans is a related pathogen then it would be similarly hard to detect and the scientists dont even know what they are looking for! it could even be the case that the people who have tested positive for lymes are actually testing positive for morgellons as the clinical indicators could be the same.

like i said and i am new, so please dont flame me if this has already been suggested before, but these are my initial thoughts from reading the posts here and what I know of biology and clinical testing for diseases.

Hi Scrollock,
A very huge welcome to ya. I like that your mind is rolling.

".....it could even be the case that the people who have tested positive for lymes are actually testing positive for morgellons as the clinical indicators could be the same..."

I like that thought. I didn't know lymes sufferers had bouts with open lesions, though.

Glad to have you on board.

hi kritters, one of the things that morgellons has affected me has been my personal life, i had a partner who has a very nasty skin disease which is a killer, called dermamyositis (think i spelled it right), i often had to keep away from him as i frequently thought i had scabies which with his condition would result in him catching the norwegian form and would be nigh impossible for him to cure, fortunatley after checking with the odctor everytime after an outbreak i would be told its not scabies and it would be safe to have contact with him.

anyway the condition i mentioned that my partner has is form of a more common disease called myositis, which is a muscle wasting disease, which is in the group of various arthritus diseases, however the form he has results in very nasty scabbing and lesions and various other skin problems, i think its likely that the condition he has still wouldnt be recognised if it wasnt for the fact that until recent advancements it was a killer and in some cases still is as it is very hard to test directly for.

the point i making in mentioning this condition, is that these two conditions (dermamyositius and myositius) are basically the same condition, except one has the skin lesions and one doesnt. the tests for diagnosing both conditions is the same, and a diagnosis of the derma form occurs when a postive test results happens and is accompanied by skin symptoms.

so it could be a possibility, that a the same connnection between morgellons and lyme disease is the same as for myositius and dermamyositus, they are the same or related disease, but morgellons has these extra symptons.

Im almost 100% the original infection was scabies for various reasons.

I developed a severe itching and had never heard of scabies, as a gay man i decided to visit an STD clinic as i thought i had picked up an STD, the doc took one look and said it was scabies. i told a friend of mine as i had slept in the same bed as him recently and was wooried he might have them.

it turns out that he had been the one to transmit them to me and he had his case confirmed by a different doctor, also at the time there was a large outbreak of scabies in the gay community where was i was living.

however when the morgellons developed and i returned to the STD clinic, they told me categorically it was not scabies.

so there is various pointers as it definitley being scabies, my case, my friend and a few other people were all diagnosed as having scabies at the time by different doctors from different STD clinics who deal with cases of scabies every day.

after my original infection of scabies when the itching kept periodically returning, i was wondering why the treatments wernt working, i noticed great big lesions on my friend's arm and he informed me that for some reason he was finding it impossible to shift the scabies despite using all of the treatments. I blamed him for my reinfections and then broke off contact with him to prevent any further reinfections.

however this didnt clear up the problem, so i went to the STD clinic found it wasnt scabies i had anymore and got in touch with my friend. his lesions had got even worse (they were really bad), likewise in the interveing time he had been back to his docs, where he was told categorically his skin condition was not down to scabies.

so we both had the original infection diagnosed as scabies, but the subsequent reinfection diagnosed as not scabies, but some "mystery" illness.
