| Do not know of anyone, but could you share more information about what exactly this tree is? I always am interested in botanicals and wonder what this tree is reputed to do and why you would like to grow it. Sounds intriguing. So will see what I can find now. Found it for sale in Punta Gorda FL nursery (scroll down to the Ceiba Pentanda, that seems to be the Ceiba you are looking for medicinally I suppose, both seedling trees and seeds available): http://www.toptropicals.com/cgi-bin/...atalog/cat.cgi I am finding that the English name is Silk Cotton Tree or Kapok tree. It grows in the tropics and is also called the Ceiba tree in Spanish. Evidently bats live in them when they get big and also all sort of insects which attracts other wildlife to them to eat them. http://www.flmnh.ufl.edu/caribarch/Ceiba.htm http://www.tropilab.com/ceiba-pen.html Second post says how it is used herbally. Interesting all the uses to which it is put, including stuffing in life jackets. http://stjohnbeachguide.com/Kapok.htm best, tcm

| cool siverlark you found a possible medicinal tree the yaxche. the neem tree, well too cold here going to have my stepdad try to grow one in memphis, tn for me. he is good with plants, but hope the frost does not kill it. my folks as a kid were the johny appleseeds and dr. dolittles of my childhood. so i hope the tree thrives. because every part of the neem tree pretty safe, and if eat the flowers for instance acts as a dewormer. but will take a few years i think to start bearing fruits. may be as long as five years to fully mature i will fish up a link tells more about herbal properties of this yaxche tree, but here is the mayan folklore: http://www.buriedmirror.com/yaxche.htm . the bear clan also have some native folklore regarding it: http://www.angelfire.com/mi4/polcrt/GreatTree.html . here is what wikipedia says on it: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kapok_tree . this talks some of the tree species name ceiba acuminata: http://arboretum.arizona.edu/ethnobo...age_trees.html. all in all looks like some medicinal properties and also has much spritual sigificance among the mayan the naitve americans, (the bear clan) and also used in healing ceremonies. thanks was interesting lookig up this most beautiful tree, (LC). |

| LC, Think the tree he is looking for is the ceiba pentanda (more well known variety of this type of tree and the one mentioned for medicinal use I believe), not the ceiba acuminata. tcm
