Default For Bugsick: Consumer Reports and Nanotechnology

Bugsick, you hafta love this. Consumer Reports, only the most conservative usually infuriatingly conservative (IMO) when discussing Western medicine (have a laugh and read some of their articles on herbs, vitamins--ahem...) Well in this case the conservative viewpoint seems meritorious as far as nanotechnology is concerned.

Anyway, the July 2007, article (page 40) discusses how no one knows the long term effects of nanotechnology and cautions the reader to consider the possible unknown consequences of ingesting them/putting them on skin (and breathing them). Also the article is extremely concerned about workers exposed to them and the often lack of precautions taken to protect them. I know you would enjoy this article. Even implies the US is like the wild west in regulating their use, as opposed to European countries. As you herald on this forum, pretty scary stuff. And nanotechnoly may make usually harmless substances dangerous.

Anyone interested in an easy to read article on this subject will enjoy this one. Try not to get the willys though when you see that industry is quoted as saying they are trying not to talk about nanotechnolgy so as not to scare John Q. Public away from buying their products (that is they do not always disclose their presence in food/cosmetics/paints and other products. So it makes it hard to avoid. Oh, boy, this is another way of saying, in my mind at least, that these companies probably do not care as long as they have the money. It is all about money, and as for people and possible future health concerns, well as Scrooge would have said, there are too darn many people anyway.

Best wishes,

It's ALL about the MONEY. This forum is just a segment of other forums I am on with regard to how the citizens of the USA are so screwed. Even if you are well off in the above average level of social status. There are just a handful of people controlling our lives and most of us are oblivious of this. And the control is not for our own good.

I urge everyone to stay informed regarding health and social issues and stay on top of the big Pharma link to our government.

It's all becoming so clear and so scary.
