Hi, I really need some help. I am new to this. I started coming down with skin symptoms in February last year. We bought a new dog and it gave us some weird symptoms which I thought were allergies but now I think was Morgellons. I sold the dog thinking we were allergic to it, but not before it gave Morgellons to my existing two dogs. One is now pretty lame at the age of 3, the other has lesions all over her inner thighs. I have been spraying them with Bug Arrest and vinegar daily and nothing seems to help. I also have two children who are 2 and 5 and are having some mild symptoms. When this hit they suddenly developed a lot of veins in their face which now flush red like a rosacea patient. They have had a few fibers and a few minor lesions. All the veins in our eyes suddenly became visible too, and they are very sensitive. I have been taking supplements, giving the kids baths in epsom salts, twice a week, changing sheets twice a week. Its slowly getting worse, especially the dogs. I keep thinking for the health of my children I should put the dogs to sleep but I don't want to, they are nice dogs and its not their fault they got it, its mine for getting that other dog. Please help with my kids and the dogs, what else can I do? I read Carla's treatment page, my kids won't take supplements. I am but its not improving anything, my knees are starting to go bad, I have a permanent case of dandruff even though I am using tea tree oil shampoo, sulphur cream on my face, etc. I am desperate. I have attempted suicide. I am totally depressed hearing how this just gets worse over time and I am going to watch my children suffer terribly. I am an animal lover and it looks like I am going to have to put my dogs down and never get another animal. Please help.

Dear MMille, Welcome to MDR and I'm sorry to hear about your troubles with this. Just checking ....did you read the Children's treatment thread: Treatment For Children With Morgellons I think its essential that you treat yourselves internally. For your children this may be a healthy diet. You could try adding supplements to drinks or foods.... Wellkid Home They may crave sugar, so try and steer away from high sugar foods. Fruits and honey are better that processed sugars. You could try the following ideas for your pets: Morgellons UK - Awareness Campaign 2010 - Morgellons Disease - Support: Pets Please don't give up because you will discover things that work best...it just takes times - Many of us are alot better. Let's be hopeful for a cure. One things for sure, you are not alone. Jo

Hi, and welcome. I'm so sorry you're going through this. My cocker has it as well. She doesn't have much itching, thankfully, but she has white gooey things at the roots of her hair, lots of flakes and she has had two terrible lesions, one on her abdomen. I also think she had it when I adopted her because she tracked a lot of stuff into my bed that I now associate with morgellons and I became symptomatic afterwards. Could be she was the vector. In any case, my vet takes morgellons seriously and began treating her with Ivermectin after the first lesion. She had another soon after but none since. It hasn't done anything for the other skin symptoms as far as I can tell, but she hasn't developed another lesion. She's got multiple other problems; a major seizure disorder, skin tumors, is at least 9 or 10 and is on Pred, phenobarbitol, and thyroxine for her other problems. I was afraid initially the Ivermectin would be the end of her with all her other stuff and drugs, but she's handled it really well. He has promised to send me a link to the vet literature he found on morgellons so I could pass it on but as of this last Tuesday he hasn't been able to find it again. He swears he wasn't just humoring me; that he really found an legitimate vet article that recommended Ivermectin and promised to keep looking. Maybe in light of the lack of CDC report, they've pulled it from the literature. Talk to your vet about Ivermectin and if you want my vet's name, PM me.

Has anyone heard of a doctor in the US which is treating this? I heard Mary Leito is working with Randy Wymore at Oklahoma and treating her children with antibiotics. When I've gone to the doctor I just get the DOP treatment. I'd like to go to someone who has some experience in this.

Has anyone tried going to Ginger Savely? I got an appt for me and the kids, however its not until MID MARCH, my gosh I'll be dead by then. VERY PRICEY. However she worked with Randy Wymore and Walter Harvey. My kids are having permanent damage done to their faces with the lesions and they had all these veins enlarge in their face so they look like they have rosacea. They were so beautiful and this thing is ruining them. Also, has anyone had any luck with tetracycline? I saw someone post somewhere else that they were taking 500mg twice a day and it cleared it up. I thought maybe it would help my dogs. I love my dogs and don't want to get rid of them but I don't know what else to do. I have a cat too that's been scratching a lot. I don't want to jeopardize my children getting better by keeping a dog, but on the other hand they grew up with the kids and are very nice, well trained dogs. Sojii, how often are you giving the ivermectin? I think the vet I am going to will think I am a kook about the morgellons. I just moved to another state so I have no history with the guy. My old vet probably would have done a lot of research to help us but I'm not sure about someone who I've only had one appointment with.

Hello mmillie My beleif is that yes dogs and cats can get this to. I may have even contracted this from a dog I once had. Was a cockle spanial and I miss him dearly. His name was Patches. We all know how thick thier hair can be. I would have to get in the tub with him to get him clean, hair was so thick his skin would not get wet unless I rubbed him all over. The easiest way to do that was to just get in the tub with him. Don,t do that part! Because of his hair he kept getting reinfested with fleas. Dawn kills fleas better than anything I know and table salt on carpet will drive them out along with just about anything except roaches. You are doing good with the epsome salt baths for your family. I would go further and soak the dogs and cat in salt bathes as well. At least a twenty minute soak as often as you can stand it. Twice a day does well but at least twice a week is paramont, people included. Two hour soaks was like miracle therapy for me. Salt heals sores faster to. Rubbing in Garlic salt worked wonders on open lesions as well as cumin (thank you jonsi) (watch out it burns but if its healing its a good burn) (cumin had less of a burn maybe better for kids). I think the garlic salt was slightly better. Better even than garlic powder. Epsome salt can get expensive. I had to pay 8$ for a three lb. bag that lasted for just two baths. If I salted a bath today it would be less than one. I,ve found that Pool Salt bought in 40 lbs bags for 6$ works just as well and saves a good deal of money. Walmart has it in thier garden section in white plastic bags like fertlizer. Or try home depot or lowes I,m told carry it. If you decide to use pool salt try upping the amount to at least ten lbs. per bath twenty lbs won,t hurt and you will float in the water (Kinda neat feeling). Thats about fifteen double handfuls = ten lbs..Taking garlic pills 1000 mg 4 times a day for three months helped me a lot as well. 7$ for thirty day bottle. If you do, stop at three months for at least three months. If you see stool bleeding stop for three days and resume with a lower dossage. This amount of garlic thins blood. Then build it back up. I,m sorry to hear about your children becoming ill with this. I know when I was young I used to get posin ivy horribly bad, would swell and and lose out fluids from the sites of infection. Then Mom and Pop would go to thier beach house and I,d get into the ocean. Bang! Ivy would dry right out within a day and a half. Not a good comparison to morgs. Salt can work wonders for many things. If you are having itching and stinging salt will calm that down as well ( it calms the nervous system). Usually for a day. Then gets longer as you heal. I had to take them for a year to get over the itching and stings. Don,t go the suicide route, your children and family need you through this and you need you. I was once suicidal as well. Very suicidal. When you find the right combo for you and family it will get better. It may be called bearable, manageable or liveable. But the thoughts of suicide will be put behind you. I hope you will beleive that. Thymus is a imune system booster. A little more expensive than the garlic pills, 30$ for thirtys days at a health food store. Its ground thymus. Thymus regulates and improves the imune system. There have been some conderns about salt bathes and high blood pressure. I don,t have the links but have read on a few trusty sites thats its not a real medical concern for high blood and that it only penetrates skin deep and not adsorbed by the blood vessle walls. But in all fairness if I had high blood I would take a pressure cuff to the bath with me until I was sure about it. I hope you and family will find something that really works for you. Keep in mind that diferent things seem to help diferent people. Though it fuddles me and blows my Big Doctor Salt ego, that not even salt works for all. Though I,ve yet to hear that it did not help at all. Good luck and hang in there. It will get better. I will promise you that much. Jim Last edited by JimDoe; January 26th, 2011 at 12:30 AM.

You need to learn your way around this site and LEARN what people have done, Get with the other mothers hear and learn from them. Dandruff, exzema was some of my first symptoms so long ago. Antibiotics may do somthing about a SYMPTOM disease, still it may bring on or out other problems. Stay far away from steroids, they are not good in the long term.

I,m also the previous owner of a cockel spanial. I adopted him from the SPCA with papers. Pure bred. ( not that I cared about that part). Previous owner was alergic. Within two weeks he also had a major seizure. I had never seen that in a dog. Freaked me out as I did not know what it was. He could not walk and drool was foaming from mouth. Lots of shakes to. Spooked me big time and I took him to a vet. Vet told me that it is almost normal for spanials to have seizures. Something to do with inbreeding to keep the race pure. He had several a month then finally outgrew them. You proabally know this, hold them and talk to them while its happening. They will thank you for it and will come out of it sooner. |
