K, great article! What an interesting thought: to turn the tables and evaluate a DOCTOR's psychological issues instead of ours! His insights totally mirror the experiences I had with 10 different doctors. They fell into 3 categories: • DOPers -- arrogant know-it-all "experts" who couldn't even conceive of the thought that there could be a new disease they didn't know about. (Their egos literally couldn't handle it.) • Fearful docs -- I literally saw some freak out about my symptoms (not very comforting for me). They seemed both unsettled that they didn't know how to treat me ... and uncomfortable with the malpractice potential. (One dermatologist literally told me he wouldn't treat me b/c Morgellons wasn't in a book!) • The totally disinterested -- these docs had a total lack of intellectual curiosity (which really shocked me). I didn't fit into their assembly line method of treatment so they wanted no part of me. They were clearly disinterested in learning about something new. Question is, where do we find the docs that are "in our own party" (to use his example)? Very interesting... ![]()

Great post redibooks ...You know, maryok, he sees patients...I can't remember if he accepts Medicare or if I could be reimbursed if I saw him...have to see...Dr. H. opted out of Medicare, which means if I saw him, I couldn't even file my Medicare afterwards and be reimbursed any...so after waiting over a month for my return phone call, I can't even go...I would also have to see him every 3 months, which means flying every 3 months...a limited income doesn't allow that....so gonna check back with Dr. S's office...I really like his take on things...great article...he really has it sized up...good article to mail to nonbelievers...heehee...or even give to a doctor that fell into those categories...what do u think...I already have a few in mind...if I had the time and extra energy to waste my time with them again....maybe when I pick up my records, I will leave it at that time ...Kentucky haze

When I read it, all I could think about was my close friend the doc who is completely disinterested because its not in "the book". I'd send it to her if I didn't think she would be 100% offended, and since she is my friend, and not my Dr., I am sensitive to her feelings. ![]() karen
