Default Hair coloring

I went to get my hair cut today and needed a hair coloring too.
After I came home my head was really itching. I used a comb and found a huge amount of all kind of specks. Little ones, bigger ones, mostly all the same color. The bathroom sink was full of that stuff even after repeating several times. I put a few under the scope and noticed a clear maybe a little yellowish colored speck some with fibers.
It must have been the ammonia in the hair coloring that forced them out. After I've washed my hair the itching was gone.

Could this be? Has anyone else made this experience?

Hi ya Katinka,

Yeh - colouring hair helps kill em and draw them out of the hair shaft. I think its the ammonia-peroxide reaction - which creates the new color and deposits it in the hair shaft, killing them in the process.

Any photos??

I've been afraid to color my hair and it's gone gray. It' been 2 years. The reason I have not done it was because I was afraid that the "chemicals" and dyes might be "toxic".

Yeah, that's probably stupid to think, but, now reading this thread, the ammonia and peroxide is probably really good for the hair/scalp.

So I'm gonna do it now!

Plus, my hair is getting really morgie and the hair dye coats the hair and makes it more managable.

Happy to have read this post.

If you wash your hair the next day with shampoo that has sulphur in it..
thats seems to REALLY GIVE EM THE REST!

It cleans your scalp thoroughly, stops itching, and the Morgs flake.

I too color my hair. It does indeed help. If i did not color my hair I seriously doubt I would have been able to grow my hair out after over two years.

I often color my hair red. Jo is 100 percent right about ammonia and peroxide being the reason why it seems to help. Both Morgellons Disease is not fond of.

I used to attend cosmetology school some years back and you actually learn alot. Not about just hair but nails, skin, light therapies and many other things.

A few pointers on hair color:

Permanent haircolor has ammonia and peroxide in it. Do not do semipermanent or permanent haircolor after permenanet , nor metallic dyes (like Dark And lovely haircolor) or Just for Men.

Why? It will break too many bonds in the hair and you will have breakage. A 24 patch test is important to make sure you are not allergic to the dye. Usually the instructions are on the box on how to do this.

If you have grey hair it is more resistant to dye and you might have to leave the dye on longer. My temples are white so I have to.

Regarding shampoo: Sulphur based shampoos are a good choice. Also those which contain essential oils or menthol.

Selsun Blue medicated shampoo I used alot in the beginning. Some say Nizoral shampoo is good as well.

If you can get this shampoo it is VERY good and soothing to the scalp. It also keep the hair from becoming too brittle. It is called Dr. Miracles 2 in one shampoo. It can be found in the ethnic haircare section for black people. I must say it smells real good for either men or women.

Here is why it is so good:

Promotes strong, shiny, healthy, growing hair.
Excellent on braided, locked, twisted, weaved or natural hair.
My. Dr. Miracle's 2 in 1 Conditioning Shampoo is my prescription for those stubborn scalp problems and the way to end dry lifeless hair.
Feel It Formula's tingling sensation supports strong growing hair and healthy scalp.
Thermalceutical complex penetrates scalp, healing dryness, flaking and itching.
Promotes blood flow to the scalp helping to end slow growth problems.
Moisturizes, conditions and shines.
Strengthens hair and scalp.
Most shampoos are just a lot of suds.
Dr. Miracle's 2 in 1 Conditioning Shampoo cleanses, strengthens and shines plus you'll feel it working on your scalp.

Here is a link which shows you the shampoo I use. It also makes a good bodywash by the way:

One added note: Essential oils such as lavendar, peppermint, eucalyptus, or orange can be added to a few drops of your favorite shampoo or bodywash I have done this. Just be careful to not let it get into your eyes.

A good antifungal oil which does not stink like neem or teatree is naiouli oil. You preferably want the steam distilled kind which is pure. Only a few draps of this are needed in a ahndful of shampoo, bodywash, or even lotion like the other essential oils. It is a cousin to teatree but has more of a lavendar scent.

Good moisterizers for the skin are shea butter, hemp lotion (which is smelly but the disease hates), goldbond medicated lotion or aloe vera gel. For my face sometimes I use alphahydroxy products containg citric acid to keep it clear as long as your skin is not too sensitive.
