Is it just me or do any of you seem to have fruit flies around you alot lately? Every time I turn around, no matter where I am, there's a frickin' fruit fly buzzing around my head. I don't have any fruit in the house, nor do I carry it around with me. This happens in the strangest spots. Just wondering if it's me and they're after my sweet personality (puke), or are there other closet fruit fly attractors out there.

Megluth... yes, I have been noticing the same and this is in UK ! especially at night when I'm lying in bed trying to read.. I make a grab at them and very occasionally manage to catch one..! Hilly x

Hi Megluth and Hilly: also been noticing them for some time, especially when I'm cleaning ears with Peroxide and soaking in detox substances in bath. Also, when I'm out at various places, I'll be talking to someone who is itching and there are these tiny things buzzing around them. I think there is a connection with these insects and what we are experiencing. Faithxoxoxo

Hello, Late summer and autumn are a high time for fruit flies. They dont need fruit or veg to feed, any moist organic debris will do. Some flies, like fungus gnats can go all year round if the temperatures high enough....like inside for instance. I honestly dont think its a co-incidence that morgies see small flies darting about. I also dont think its a co-incidence that 75% of known human disease genes have a recognizable match in the genetic code of fruit flies. Fruit flies (Drosophila) are the only ones that have had their full genome matched, other species of small fly are likely to have very similar proteins that cause disease. Could folks have a look on window sills and up-lighters to see if any small flies are there...if so, could you keep a few in an air tight container? I will be post a link to my fly larvae, micro-myiasis research shortly. cheers Jo xxx Drosophila melanogaster - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Jo, thanks for the quick and informative response. That info was really helpful and food for thought. A loved one back from a trip has some information on that when I mentioned your post. More on what I learn further later. Love ya, Faith

| Leave a glass of wine out for them. They are suicidal and always go straight into the wine and die. Jo I have dead allsorts on my windowsill so will save them.
