Hey all,,,I was sittin by the computer when a red fiber either jumped or landed on my hand,,and it started to sting.. It made the mistake of doing this while I had instant access to my tweezers.. ![]() I sandwiched it between a glass slide and cover glass to immobilize and flatten, for exam.. Heres the vid A tiny dab of Aleene"s clear tacky glue is excellant for securing down,, either samples,or cover glass to slides..On cover glass use a toothpick to put a dab on two corners,,and stick!! No need for expensive balsam....

That's a great vid hurtin. That fiber looks like its been breached in places, by matter inside it maybe? Also bulges - all suggests its a tube like filament...to channel what? What's the width and length d'ya reckon? (in mms or microns) Jo

This one was about 1/4 inch long,,and I first looked at it on my other scope and noticed black strands(microfilaria??) inside of it,,but were absent when I mounted (permanantly), the cover glass ,which took a couple of minutes to prepare.. I might have ruptured it when tweezing also...it now looks a little more transparent ,to when I first scoped it.... I have observed other strands with a smaller MOVING filiment inside,,the outside being almost like a "sheath"....,,,I seen this alot with the cobwebs,,as you pull them apart.. Is morgs part microfilarial disease???

Dear hurt1, Great capture and picture. You probably already have this but in case you do not here is a image library of parasites to seek out a potential match. DPDx - Filariasis Image Library Well hurt1, I had a few moments and went through the ENTIRE library and the only pics that had the snail type end with the little antennae looking things were these. DPDx - Angiostrongyliasis Image Library and this DPDx - Oesophagostomiasis Image Library ![]() Morgan Last edited by Morgan; November 18th, 2009 at 02:40 PM.

Thank you Morgan,,,I did not have that image library,,and is excellant,,thanks again.. My new microscope set-up is alot better,,and am waiting for other lenses in the mail.. This vid was at 10x... I have been looking into the filarial disease/strongyl/micro-filarial aspect of this lately, ever since I noticed the strange mirofiber-like worms that are found in this crazy cobweb stuff in my warehouse... The Angiostrongyliasis looks a little like it.... I had seen a you-tube video where a guy mentioned a strongyle,,he said they were in the pressboard of a new computer desk,,and coming out from the pores of the wood... From china too.. Has this theory been thought of?? A colony of micro-filarial worms living in the lymphatic system(nodes),,come out of lymph vessels and grow larger in skin???

Ooooooooooh yes, Filariasis has been kicked around for a while now. The first that I had heard about it was in relation to Dr. Harvey. A loooong time ago there was reference to him looking into Onchocerciacis but the only references I find to that are on this webblog. NPM's WebLog There were several articles, one of which was the Washington Post article. Figments of the Imagination? The Savely/Stricker article was another one on Page 4. Morgellons - infection or delusion That is all I could find in limited time. Gotta fly. Have a great day. Morgan

One more thing and I will leave it alone. Here is a wonderful artists rendering of a hookworm. Similiar spicule things on one end as the red fiber. http://profiles.nlm.nih.gov/VV/B/B/F/K/_/vvbbfk.jpg The above rendering was taken from this website: Google Image Result for http://profiles.nlm.nih.gov/VV/B/B/F/K/_/vvbbfk.jpg It said this on the Oesophagostomum link: "Adults of Oesophagostomum spp. are bursate nematodes, related to and morphologically-similar to, the hookworms." DPDx - Oesophagostomiasis Image Library Best of luck. Morgan
