| Peroxide is one of the known solvents of keratin (alcohol being the other). The photo below shows how peroxide can dissolve the keratin in skin. The "blotch" on my forearm that looks like a chemical burn is where the peroxide dissolved some of the excess keratin on the surface of my skin. I put a few drops of peroxide on my forearm and let it dry to demonstrate the effect that 3% hydrogen peroxide had on my skin. It isn't quite as painful as it may appear - the only thing that would remove the blotches was to saturate my skin in the peroxide (which really hurt). This would allow the excess collagen fibers beneath the surface of the skin to move which relieved the tremendous tension that these fibers would create in my case (I'm posting another picture that shows this). I don't know if anyone else has experienced this kind of effect with hydrogen peroxide - diluting it in bath water may minimize this effect. |

| Belinda , If your going to try Peroxide please make sure you dilute it well. Toomanyfibers has a condition a bit different from Morgellons .I don't think he was recommending anyone else try it . When I had the unbelievable itching at the begining I would put a few drops in my bath. I hope you find relief and welcome to the site . Last edited by carla; October 12th, 2010 at 06:25 PM. |
