| Thought there are many that do hair analysis for people, what is SOOOO important is their knowledge about how to interpret them. Unfortunately, so may make a joke of them. The EPA has published a study whereby they tested over 400 samples and found them to be flawless for heavy metals. However, the "heavy metal" people get really excited and start claiming that people need to take chelators and remove the heavy metals. When you study nutrition, you find that many metals are very similar in molecular weight and structure as preferred minerals. So when you are deficient in a preferred mineral, like copper, you will absorb mercury to substitute for it. That is how our bodies were designed. We do not just die when a mineral becomes deficient. We are not like a car that runs out of gas. We substitute the metals until the preferred minerals show up again. Unfortunately, the heavy metals cause lots of adverse symptoms. The dogs that are low manganese test incredibly high for aluminum and very high for mercury. So please be careful about believing what you hear about hair mineral analysis. The interpreter is the key. I had many, many Morgellons symptoms and am scarred from face to feet from all the terrible itching. My hair test showed an extreme deficiency of manganese. |

| I agree interpretation is very important. Also, it is important to know what each individual needs. For instance, I read a book that said most people are deficient in selenium & I started taking supplements. BAD mistake! I got the worst back aches as a result (worse than labor pains). My doctor practices muscle testing. If anyone lives near northern New Mexico you can pm me. It is a long process to figure out what makes us sick and what triggers the "M". My doctor tested me for heavy metals and found that I wasn't sick due to metals. Thanks again Dog Lover, good to see you posting. Itwl, ~jonsi

| Dear Jonsi, Selenium is a very strong mineral at removing heavy metals from the body. Heavy metals vary rarely can be detected in the bloodstream as they quickly clear the blood and go into the soft tissues, etc. So when you take a mineral, herb, chelator, that want's to remove the metal, it will leave the tissues and travel through the bloodstream to then either be filtered by the liver or kidneys for excretion from the body. When high concentrations of metals leave the body at once, it causes lots of adverse symptoms. It makes it seem as if what you took was all wrong, when maybe it was actually helping you, but way too fast. Heavy metals tend to irritate nerves such as the trigeminal in the head (migranes), the sciatic in the back, groin, down the leg and into the toes, ect. For example, one lady gave her 19 pound dog 2 pieces of pineapple and some ground up hazelnuts. Those are very HIGH food sources of manganese. The next day, the dog pooped blood. Too much iron traveled over the delicate mucosal villi in the intestines. It was like dragging a metal brush over them. I advised her to go much slower, and start with lower concentrations of manganese rich foods. The dog is now doing great. The rule of thumb is, preferred minerals replace heavy metals and rebalance out of balance minerals also. Balancing must go slow or the reaction is too great. Think of it like a river carving a canyon over thousands of years. The result can be beautiful like the grand canyon. But if you go after making a canyon with dynamite, the results could be devistating to the environment. |
