Hi Kat,

Not just ticks and fleas...mosquitos, mites and anything that bites and can transmit blood.

I think it's everywhere and you and your pets can get it simultaneously or whenever bitten by something....and depending on what's happening in your body at the time, (what else is in it) you get it or don't.

My eleven year old shepherd cross seemed to come down with M shortly after me. Symptoms included missing patches of hair, severe itching, joint pain/ limping, diarhea when feeding same old IAMS he always got, eye goop, a couple of lesions, he stopped coming inside except to eat or get a bone because he could never find fiber free carpet to lay on that didn't drive him crazy. My parents love him and have no fear of M, so he's off to stay with them for the summer. He is showing no symptoms or itching whatsoever now, the only change being adding 50% meat and veggie human food with his IAMS diet and getting him away from my fibers. He is currently healthier than most dogs half his age. Conclusion: My dog might be having allergies to my M fibers, and not even have the disease????
