I need to stress that Ivermax/Stromectol can be dangerous to those with a low toleration. I hesitated a month after I got the Ivermax before trying it. Sheer desperate suffering is how I discovered my strong toleration to this anti-parasite medication. First I tried applying just a drop of it on the sole of my foot, so it could be easily washed off if I had a bad reaction. I then tried the stuff very slowly on myself long before giving it to my cat. Also, if my cat no longer has extreme itching, I wait a day or more before redosing her. She seems to realize the drug helps with the itching. I should add she is a huge cat, so I would normally give a regular cat just a few drops applied to the top of her head daily (possibly just 1/16 of a teaspoon). When trying this stuff yourself, first try on your arm skin for a few days (it doesn't help get rid of the Morgellons to apply it to a lesion -- except on the scalp). However, try putting it on the skin first for a few days to test whether you have an allergic reaction -- later you can see what dosage you can take orally, possibly no more than 1/32 of a teaspoonful for some people (which may mean it won't work at such a low dose). Again, experiment very slowly and carefully. Hopefully, this info will be passed on to doctors and they will figure out the correct dosage (although they'll probably refuse to experiment with vet medication--even though it contains the same medicine, Ivermectin, used for humans as Stromectol). There is apparently a computer program already telling doctors they can only prescribe two doses of Stromectol almost a month apart to treat Demodex (I was told I had Demodex, but actually it's Morgellons, with the lesions, fibers, etc.). Tell your doctor this low dose won't do anything and that they have to experiment.

Hella- The smell of my one dog (a German Shorthaired Pointer) is worse than the other. My other dog tested positive for Lyme Disease and he was on antibiotics, maybe that's why he doesn't stink. A few of the fibers that come out of my skin look like his hair, and oddly enough a few years ago when his fur was dry and brittle I would feel like I had stepped on glass only to find a dog hair embedded in my foot. Perhaps it was his Morgs infected hair making its way into my skin. He's always been unhealthy. He wasn't even a year old and I had to take him to an animal emergency vet at 2 am because he was having diarrhea in the house and became lethargic and couldn't get up on the couch or bed. They said he almost didn't make it through the night, but had no explanation for me. His spleen swelled up over twice its size and they hydrated him and sent him home. I decided to take him to a dog oncologist and $5,000 later after a ton of bloodwork they had no answers. A year later it happened again. The only thing I could think of was the one time it was right after I had my son and the second time my husband was deployed with the military and I fed him easy meals. I used to buy him Merrick's dry food and mix some homemade chicken or red meat in it, but because things were busy I used ready made chicken I bought at the store...in both instances. The only thing I could think was that the additives in it did something. He looked awful, his coat was dull. he was itchy etc. I have since taken him to the vet with coat issues...dry itchy fur and skin to the point of losing fur etc. He is doing really well now as long as I don't stray form his diet and my son doesn't feed him scraps of any kind that have flavoring or anything in them. The one thing I can't get rid of is his odor. He's been allowed on the couch and our couch stinks too. I plan on buying one of those covers from Orvis that's pet proof and keeps anything from going through it. Then I am going to steam the couches like crazy.

Kira, Interesting stuff, maybe I'll try it. I am a bit paranoid about taking certain things internally. I just started taking silver, which I was scared to death of after seeing that it made a few people many years ago, turn blue. I may buy the stuff you mentioned and use it topically.

Hi all... I've taken ivermectin ... a dose every moning mixed in water for several months at a time and I'm sure it helped... I also got it from an agricultural site and it said on the bottle 'for the use of cattle and swine only' ! However, I gather it's exactly the same as the human kind... for which they charge much more... if anyone wants to pm me re. details.. do. The other thing I have found great for dogs and cats is DE diatamceous earth... I put it in their food (and mine) and rub it all over, especially the bad bits. Neither my cat or dog have any more symptoms... hope that helps...

I wonder...what are the symptoms of a dog with Morgellons? My dog Estella weighs in at 5 pounds, she is a blue chihuahua with minimal hair..her skin smells fine but her mouth is horrid. The issue that I see her in most is she is nuerotic. walks around with a curved back and tail between legs. Jumps at a leave going by and hides upstairs...she wont go near anyone and if I raise my voice for any reaosn she hides..I am not a yeller or violent..she just doesnt like noise (like me now) her people issue mimics my issue I have now with being around people. cant stand it. I havent seen anyone in months and use to be a social guppy. My son...the same. He is 3 and goes around and turns all the lights off in house and doesnt want to go out either. I started putting estella on my lap during my zaps..Hope this works. Im going to get the neems and really need to find that eco vie stuff to help with my PAIN..extreme PAIN in hands. I type and there is blood on keyboard now. I have some new critter in hands now too. TWISTED..anyways..off topic but wondering if this is symptom for her. ALSO..she is up all night with me too. and she sure drinks alot of water.

3carat I also am scared to death that my kitty and doggie will die of this illness. Here are some of the things that my pets have and do: the wild jump or zoom from a stand still, licking and biting their whole body, they need food more (meow and look sad), they sound clogged up in their respiratory area, Eyes with discharge. Also, black "tar" comes out of their noses, they do get sort of scared or untrusting. The cats ears become more pointy and change on the inside. The cat curls into a much tighter ball and when he is outside, he rolls around in the rocks/gravel driveway. The cat is much more letting me hold him and talk soothing and lightly itch the places. The dog has a deep uncough - deep in chest but no show on xray. Gus, my puppy, has remodel ears (inside). They both have lot of hair between their toes. Ollie, the kitty has what look like bags under eyes. My doggy also. In their pee pee area, they have sores (you really have to look for them - more like black/brown lines.). They both smell a weird smell, sort of like me. I could go on and on, but that is enuf to begin with. Just to let you know: took them both to older vet - nothing wrong/maybe allergies. And then to a college - Texas A & M Small Animal Clinic. Nothing wrong, except allergies?! I need to find a new, opened minded vet, who will look things up and talk to other people. I hope your doggie gets better. Hella

When you use the DE, aren't you afraid to put too much (like choke them or get in their noses.). And the same when you put some on their coats/fur, I think my dog and cat would lick it off?! I would hate to be killing them when I want to make them well Hella

I'm not sure what foods you all feed your pets but before I knew about this, and before i knew about their food issues, I had a lot of problems with my dogs. Gastrointestinal problems that sounded like what I had, IBS, loud stomach noises and constipation. My dog's skin would get red and irritated(my GSP), my Rottweiler who was the sweetest dog ever acted suspiciously and growled at me all the while her stomach making horendous noises. I realized back then eventually that it was food in her case. She was sensitive to something I was feeding her and when I changed her diet she was the same docile teddy bear she always was. I had her 4 years after that with not one incident, until I had to have her put down because she broke her leg and x rays showed bone cancer. This was a dog who always wanted to be with me, but when she didn't feel well at that time she actually wanted nothing to do with me. She would go off by herself. She went from being my shadow to growling like she was annoyed with me if I went up to pet her. I had a thorough exam done on her and nothing came up. I feared I was going to have to have her put down because I couldn't have a dog I was afraid of, as much as I loved her. My husband had her since she was a puppy and there were never any issues with her, and this all started when she was around 5 years old. As I said a change in diet made a miraculous change in her and I never had another problem with her thank God. My GSP-(German shorthaired pointer) has had problems since he was a little under a year old, as you can see in my post above. He smells and itches a lot and has eye goop (full of fibers under a microscope) when he isn't feeling himself. I've noticed though that this happens when he eats something he shouldn't. I have him on a strict diet of a dry food like Venison and Sweet Potato because the grains make him much worse (I also cook meat up for him in with his dry food). I think one of his problems is wheat. His hair had always been brillo-like in the past and dull and he would have episodes where he almost looked like he had mange, he would lose hair in spots. The change in diet has made all of the difference. He pulls me on walks again (which isn't necessarily a good thing for me, but I thought he had slowed down with age, but it was his diet making him sluggish). It will take a while to see a change, but I get compliments on my GSP now and people have said he could be a show dog (although he still smells!). His coat is so shiny and soft, like velvet and his eyes are free of eye goop (unless my son feeds him bread or anything from the table). I can tell right away when he has eaten something he shouldn't have by both his sluggish behavior and the big wads of eye goop I wipe from his eyes. When you think about it they say kids with Autism do much better when they avoid wheat and dairy, obviously it isn't a cure for them, but it takes away other issues such as food allergies which they are more prone to and it adds to their problem causing them to feel spacey and bad in general, making some Autism cases seem even worse. With pets food allergies/sensitivities are going to make things worse (in people also) by taxing their immune system even further. It may not be the problem for your pet, but try it and see. Try foods that claim limited ingredients. I switch my dogs from Venison Sweet Potato to Duck, so that they don't develop allergies to what I'm feeding them now. Many of them are high in essential fatty acids which help as a natural anti-inflammatory and also probiotics in them. I also feed my dogs yogurt here and there as I know they are not sensitive to dairy. Last edited by brat789; December 2nd, 2009 at 12:32 AM.

My two cats, Tommy and Zoe, both have Morgellons but don't appear ill. However, they put out the fibers in droves. These fibers I believe to be the infective juvenile nematodes (transgenic of course, altered, and unlike any other "normal" nematodes) - I know these fibers come from my cats because my Tommy is orange, and his fibers (they move! - they are searching for prey) - his fibers are orange, but altered with kinks in them. Zoe's fibers are her color, sort of black/gray. They keep reinfecting my clothing and I think me too. I decided to put zinc drops in their food along with some silver and mixed minerals. I know the minerals really help me and I hope they will reduce or eliminate the fibers (which eventually cause the lesions, etc., imho). I think Tommy has a lesion in his ear, but it's hard to tell. sar
