Well I have been losing the young hens at about one a week and now have found out its Mareks disease which is..........herpes virus!!!
The latest is the smallest and cutest of the lot, she went lame overnight and within 3 days her eyesight is gone so back to vet tomorrow and there's only one solution.
Seems like Mareks kills more hens than any other disease,but I have never had it here before.Once it kicks off its very swift at infecting the others and not very nice to watch.

It looks like the herpes virus is majorly implicated by now. I think it's being used as a white sauce.... I think I posted that before. A sauce that can be added to in order to create another. Pardon my lame analogy but I just don't feel like thinking anymore tonite.

Or it's the weak link allowing other organisms (probably bio-engineered) entry.

You know it is so easy to bio-engineer this stuff to create a worldwide epidemic by making something that you can spray all over that has sex with the critter and becomes a super killer bug.

Ask your vet how long they've known about this. It truly amazes me. These vets are supposed to have even more intense medical training than md's .... they're all freakin clueless.

Kritts,vets here have never heard of morgs.My vet is good and listens but doesn't get it about morgs.When it started months ago she wondered if it was mareks-but even so there is no cure-or treatment.Then things settled down for a while and suddenly flared up again.
Yes its DEFINITELY,DEFINITELY fungus related.The outside of the hens hut is toxic green,I have to clean it constantly.There are those strange webs hanging there every morning.Even the SOIL where they run around is turning green.And of course the ever present fibres.I clean these huts every morning but its a waste of time.Mareks is highly infectious so the other flock who are in a different run will get it anytime soon.BUT will never never have another pet of any description after this.Have had the horse ,the cat and now what started out at 32 hens,sadly depleted to whatever number is now left.Make no mistake these are pets too,very tame ,know their names,and not even 2 years old.Sickening!!

I have an idea.
It's worth a try.
get a spray bottle, fill it with pure water, baking soda, and spray everywhere. kill all of it.

then put hydrogen peroxide in their water. just a tad because I know it might not be good unless diluted.

They may be doomed, but at least you can do SOMETHING to fight it.

Hi Pat,

My grandpa had a pigeon coop in his back yard and he named his birds too. I have the best memories of him talking to his birds. One was a band tailed pigeon that flew into my parent's house that had a broken wing. They gave the bird to grandpa & he named that bird "Baby". Kritters....this kinda takes my breath away.......you wrote>"hey, how about that? sodium bicarbonate! just what they found kills cancer in tumors!!!!" ********* I have been thru boxes and boxes of baking soda removing lesions, put washing soda in the laundry soap i make, wash the mirrors and surfaces with club soda. Soda, soda, soda by observation and results ,but not understanding the science of it all. Is there a link from herpes to cancer to mrsa to morgellons....and under all that, the critter anatomy i find in the lesion? Of course my mind cannot comprehend it all....makes me need to take a nap. This is all so unbearabley sad, makes me frustratingly mad! I keep making more silver with my Silvergen generator, and i put some in the animals and aviary birds water. It was when i started taking some of the brand Sovereign Silver internally that i didnt have to take a nap everyday.
