Handi Wipes vs. paper towels vs. microfiber cloths I've been spending a fortune using paper towels to clean. Even used wet or with a cleaning product, they leave a lot of stuff behind to float in the air and probably add to it. Textured microfiber cleaning cloths trap stuff, but once it's in, it's in. You can't get the floaters and hairs out by washing. A few weeks ago I remembered that my mother had used handiwipes for everything because they could be washed in the laundry. I haven't tried washing them in the washer but for cleaning, they sure beat the heck out of paper towels. They hold onto everything while cleaning but can be rinsed and re-used over and over. A year ago I bought a steam floor cleaner and portable steam cleaner. I hadn't used them because the covers are textured microfiber and the dust and floaters would never come out of them. Today I wrapped the microfiber cover with handiwipes, secured with thick rubber bands and it worked great. I still got the sanitizing steam, the handiwipes trapped the dust and floaters, etc, I rinsed and reused without leaving a lot of stuff behind and the expensive microfiber cover stayed free of the floaters. They're made by Clorox, sold anywhere cleaning supplies are. I may not put them in the washer, just throw them away, but they can be rinsed and re-used multiple times and a package of 6 is less than $2. |
