Default Hot water & OxyClean really necessary for laundry?

Laundry's costing me more than my groceries. When I first started looking for tips, the suggestions I found most often on forums were to use both Borax and oxyclean - because supposedly the monsters hate oxygen - and detergent (preferably Dr. Bronner's) and to wash everything is hot-hot water. But on this forum, I haven't seen anyone suggest oxyclean. Maybe I missed it. (I already pre-soak underwear in H2O2 because that's where I usually get stinging and movement, and it does seem to help.) I stopped using Dr. Bronner's because it was just too expensive and went to a different plant-based detergent that costs 2/3 less. Except for towels, my laundry is all synthetics so bleach is out.

Are oxyclean / hot water really necessary?

Default Tide with enzymes...

Hey Everyone,
Yeah laundry is expensive. I finally broke down and bought a frontloading washer that has a sanitizing cycle. It also has an internal heater that heats the wash to 180 degrees. I know that is not an option for everyone.

Tide makes a powdered detergent that has baking soda and enzymes! It is not too expensive and I had good luck with it. Just read the ingredients on the box to make sure you are getting the right one. I would stop the wash cycle and let it sit/soak for an extra 20 minutes. Sometimes I would add borax or liquid enzymes too. There is a liquid detergent called Bio-clean available at some stores and online that has enzymes too.
Best wishes
Xib

Me to,,,,in warm water, and I only have lesions on my face. So it must be good enough. Sometime I add a squirt of Dawn, because they say to add it to dog shampoo to break the oily barrior on fleas.I figure if there were any type of mite or egg it would kill it also.

Default Hot Water & Oxyclean...

Bee, does that mean Dawn might also help to break down the sticky oily film on skin?

Maybee sojii, it's made to cut grease. I would try Betadine Sugical Scrub also.
Vets recommend it for horses and dogs with some skin problems.
I don't get that sticky film some talk about, but it sounds kinda like mange dogs get from mites.

i use tide liquid but hot water for sure.. also, to keep your pets bed fresh with out washing it to death, if you pop it in the dryer at high heat every other day or once/twice a week for about 20 min ( dont let it catch fire, make sure its made of stuff that wont melt) that works really well.
laundry is just a small pert, its the whole big picture that needs to be dealt with.. once you do that 'super duper, break it down ,clean it up, vacum and rearrange'' thing, hopefully you only need to do the big cleaning once, and routine cleanings after..
but if your laundry is always buggy, have you looked/cleaned the chest of drawers you hold them in? no point washing clothes and putting them into drawers with bugs...
im gonna post here what has worked for me so far, i think im on to something absolutly that makes sense and wont cost you too awful much, its basic common sense cleaning...and its no government conspirasy, no aliens ships landing, its bugs.. but its our fault for banning the pesticides that actually worked, instead of outright ban, they should have imited pesticides to profesionals like exterminators, contractors. while everyone has an opinion, bottom line is that before they banned the pesticides, people didnt get sick from it until they could get out of school/work or win a lawsuit. and then youve got that first dumb fool that figured he would do it himself but didnt read the instructions, went under his house to spray without any ventalation or gas mask or protection, without even telling someone he would be under there, and well, he died..
then people started extracting ingrediants to make drugs, bascily not using it correctly and now its banned and now the bugs are taking over... in my personal opinion, i belive that somebugs are cross breeding, thats why nobody regocnizes what they are!! that stupid flying dust? bugs...

I oil with coconut oil at night for a few hours and then wash it off with Dawn. If I don't then the things come out more. I wonder if that's why I don't know what biofilm is?
