| Hi everyone I thought I would put it all out there and be completely honest with you all as I feel very welcomed by you all and feel comfortable that you will not judge me the way others do.....Here it is: From the age of 19 I have always had an issue with drug abuse. Starting with cocaine, I was a regular user for just over a year, and by regular I mean daily, around 1-2g a day. I was then an occassioal user up until the age of 23 when I then discovered amphetamines (not crystal meth, just speed, or base as it is known round our way) which I thn used on a daily basis for 3 years up until August this year which is when I realised I had Morgellons. I have since relapsed a couple of times with the amphetamine but it ended in absolute torture as the drug seemed to get to th M before it got to me an the things were so much bigger and faster I thought they would kill me. The drug abuse has of course not helped my plight for a M diagnosis as long term amphetamine and narcotic abuse make you no 1 prime example of someone with DOP, however I know my drugs and I know my mind and this thing is definitely real, I have videos to prove it, which is how I managed to finally get a diagnosis of M. Let me just say at this point that my drug abuse was fuelled by Bulimia eating disorder and an unhealthy obsession with being thin, not due to being some manic raver or having a difficult childhood etc. not that it makes it any more justified....l just want to make it clear hat I live a normal working class life, I work full time, have my own family home and take pride in both my and my homes appearance, I just used to take these drugs in order to b able to not eat yet still have energy. I. Elise that my Morgellons was fuelled by my lifestyle and wonder if anybody else has experienced a similar pattern? I know the M is very advanced and is able to use any drug I take to be faster and stronger, th Latino took nothing It had nowhere new it's usual effected the M was faster than ever and moving o much more. I have a I liar effect with alcohol in thy I never get pas a certain stage of drunkenness but the M seems to become slower and slower! It seems to me that anything you take be it legal o illegal, th Morgellons will always take what it wants first before you body gets a chance to absorb it. Here's the weird thing though, when I do take any amphetamine, the M seems to stay still until the point comes when I need to take more (the comedown period) this is when the M develops an aggressive attack on me! Like it is conserving the energy it has stolen from my drugs until I am feeling at my lowest and weakest. I know I will relapse again despite knowing th after effect will make me worse, as it is an issue I will leat have until I get help for the underlying eating disorder, however this would mean confessing my secret drug abuse tat I have manage to hid for 10 years from everyone including my husband! I cannot face that now with the Morgellons aswell. The last thing I need is for people to tell me I brought this on myself. I'm fully aware of that. Sorry to babble on, I just needed to know if anyone else is in or has been in my position, as I feel so very alone even when I'm surrounded by people. Xxx |

| You are not the first apple to fall from the tree, drug abuse is on the rise, and it is not illegal drugs that are at the front, it is legal drug abuse. There is little blame to place on drug addicts actually, at one point they felt they needed drugs for one reason or another, you say your cause is vanity. That is understood, nobody wants to look in the mirror and see two people. There is a thing called exercise, but Americans have been conditioned to think, if its the easy fast way its ok. I do not like exercise at first because it does HURT, only at first, but the rush that comes with exercise is better than any pill, it lasts all day, the power you feel, energy and mental clarity. If you have never been to a gym, working out for long periods of time, you have never lived. A gym furthers your determination, when you first get there you will most likely feel like a LOSER, but, your not, you are a winner because you have taken the first step to be a winner and hang with other winners. They will see you come in, of course they will see your weak condition, in your low self esteem mind you will assume they are laughing at you, but they are not, they are remembering how much it took for them to change their life around and they know how brave you are to be there. If you are approachable and ask for help, all of these people will try to show you how to get along in the gym, how to focus on areas you want strong and trim. You want to know how long it takes to go from weakling with mental issues to aspiring super woman, less than 1 month. Take it easy at first, warm up, repetition with super light weights until failure will have you building muscle quickly. I used to work out with 300 lbs, now I think I am superman but know I am not, 50 lbs would be more like it. Oh I can probably get 200 in the air, but it may break something. Weight bearing exercise is super good for bones, bones make blood, blood keeps us alive. If I was to start exercise today I would go out and put 50 pounds on the bar and pump it as many times as I could until I shivered lifting it. I would do this 3 times. Concentration upon your being, forgetting what pain is, remembering your at one, with yourself, when your body says NO, please help me it hurts, I'm weak, I am going to hurt myself, I can't, that blatering attitude that got you into this mess, that is when you hear the weak fool talking, listen to her, she is what you have become, stop right there, let your vanity take over, let your mind overcome the failure talk and instead believe in yourself, this is easy I CAN do it, the only thing that matters is success. Exersize can become a addiction, but its a dam good addiction, just stay away from lifting too much weight. Women, do not think the iron is for men and jumping around on a mat is for women, there is no gender exersize and to forget one is not good, too much of anything will can hurt you, especially arobics. I knew lots of the instructors with leg and back problems, 3 classes a day, 5 times a week can destroy lots of joints. Do not forget your mid section, that section is the one people do not like because it can stress their body, talk with the trainers, have them help you geterdone without pain or injury. If you do not see quick improvement your NOT IN THE ZONE, apply yourself. My own sister has gone to the gym for years, but she is not in the zone, she is not getting anything from it, I feel she thinks a jelly roll is her savior and I fear for her life. Drugs have done nothing for you, the energy you seek is locked inside you, go unlock it, you will be so proud of yourself and that my dear is just about all you need. If your looking for an excuse why you can't change, your not ready to change, wait too long and you can use all those excuses on the supreme being. |

| i know a lot of people that did crank and never got morgs. they would pick their face for hours, and get sores, but thats more of a tweek thing, not a morgs thing. i dont think they are linked

| Im not a user but id think there would be a lot of neurological issues relating to drug abuse that match both morgellons and lyme. The crawling, itching and brain fog, to name a few. I know all about the ipad typos, too. I love it but its really hard to be accurate with it. I write a lot of lower case letters because ive taken off autocorrect. |

| So called Morgellons is the master of itching, it is not a maybe, no mater WHAT ELSE YOU HAVE so called morgellons is the itching vector behind it. Drug abuse will have you itching BECAUSE YOU HAVE so called Morgellons. |

| BO, Your posting about exercise is inspiring and timely because I'm at a stage where I am trying like the ****ens to gain weight. I've readjusted my diet recently where I am eating a lot more protein, added grains, quinoa, sweet potatoes, chicken, some fish, etc. and am feeling much stronger, but still cannot gain any weight! I think that exercise may be the key here, and I have begun walking for 30 minutes most days, but will now add some weights to my regimen. I have a universal machine in the basement, but am reluctant to work out down there, as it's not a finished basement, and conditions aren't what I would prefer. I do have a couple of weight bars and some free weights though... Thanks. |

| Ann, please be careful about overdoing exercise when you are so very ill. Some regular short walks are probably enough right now and will be sufficient to keep the blood flowing and the lymph moving. When I was studying TCM medicine very informally this is what the lead acupuncturist shared with some of his sick patients in that clinic. Your body will need time to heal and to throw off what it can of the illness, but vigorous exercise when underweight may stress you too much right now. I would hold off until stronger. Unfortunately whatever M is seems to attack the liver and gall bladder as well as the spleen. In the TCM tradition the liver/GB control the ligaments and tendons, the spleen the muscles. So my input, for what it is worth, would be to take exercise slowly until you recover more than you have. I think you mentioned being on some medications now? This is a two edged sword (I am on some now too) for medications are hard on these organs, but...I think we probably have to take some for recovery too along the way between natural protocols and Western meds. Sigh. tcm

| How on earth can I put some weight on???!!! I am just under 5'3" and have lost almost 30lbs. I look absolutely horrible. I am at 103 now, and holding, thank goodness... Quote:

| Have you tried something like goat's cheese? Or full fat goat's milk? If you have trouble with dairy these may digest well for you and add in some healthy fat. These are suggested in TCM for those women who are trying to get pregnant but are too thin to support a pregnancy. So it may help weight gain in general. Also in TCM the spleen and pancreas (paired organs for function) have a lot to do with weight gain/loss. The spleen needs to be kept warm with more cooked foods eaten than raw (which creates cold and dampness in the spleen). All yellow and orange foods are supposed to help spleen function. So all the harvest veggies are good, like winter squash and the sweet potatoes you are already eating. Warming soups in winter are excellent. And the extra grains are good too. Still if you are the type who has heat or blood deficiency rather than damp or cold symptoms even these suggestions will be different. Here's a page which describes various types of spleen dysfunction as viewed in TCM along with suggestions for diet to support the spleen according to symptom picture.
