Default Thanksgiving

I just wanted to wish everyone out there a happy Thanksgiving. I am very grateful to have found this forum where there is a wealth of support and extremely valuable information. The most important thing, though, is the solidarity and multitude of helping hands, without which many would be lost.

I have a lot to be thankful for this year, despite having become afflicted with Morgellons. If nothing else, it has opened my eyes to many aspects of my life, and caused me to begin to change a lot of things. If I should ever conquer this, I know that I will never, never take good health or everyday living for granted again, and I will continue to appreciate those who love and support me more deeply.

For those who can, please have a drumstick for me with a big scoop of mashed potatoes; I can't eat any meat or starches, and am going to be sitting at the table with my raw salad and veggies, and drooling...

Have a wonderful holiday!

Happy Thanks Giving

I am impressed with your will power, I tend to struggle with being good every day. I try hard but stressfulldays make turn to chocolate or a glass of wine. Although, both have been greatly reduced out of my diet!

Honestly, I'm not seeing a difference in symptoms based on what I eat anymore. Initially it helped get my symptoms under control, but now it doesn't seem to matter. I do try to eat organically and well, but I haven't been able to 100%. I have avoided most prepackaged foods.

Are you sure the diet is what's helping you now?

Honestly, I don't know, but I do know that when I eat certain things, I get a reaction. I feel a lot itchier and more crawliness, so I am sticking to this until I begin to feel better overall. I truly believe that my symptoms, when they went acute after the mite infestation, were linked to my poor habits. While I ate pretty healthy, I did love my wine, and used it to self-medicate on a daily basis due to work stress, etc. and on weekends, we were used to partying with friends, so it was more alcohol, and then NOT eating so well. Years of this would take its toll, and so I weakened myself and left myself much more wide open to M when it came calling. So this is kind of my effort to make my body less attractive to the M and whatever parasites, or whatnot that's a part of it. I haven't had any alcohol or chocolate since I realized that I had the bird mite thing.

It's a shame, as I love to cook, and love to eat, and Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays for all of that. I had a dream the other night that I ate half a donut without thinking, and actually woke myself up in a panic because I realized that I can't have sugar! I don't like donuts, and haven't had one in years! I still cook for my husband, and when I took the pan of lasagna out of the oven last night, I swore to get better, as it's real torture! LOL

It will be a bit awkward this year, as we are going to my brother's to be with friends and family, and I will be eating salad and veggies in the midst of them. But my family knows that I am vegetarian now, and I am making a veggie side dish of roasted brussels sprouts with red onions and garlic, which is yummy and substantial, so I will be fine. I have never been a dessert fan, and so don't miss the sweets, but do miss my occasional piece of dark chocolate now and then.

Hope and good health and a wonderful holiday to all!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone, and try not to let the holidays get you down, we've got next year to look forward to and I just know it's going to be a year of discovery.
