having herx. symptoms on Dr. H. protocol

I have been on Dr. H. protocol about 5 days now and was wondering from the ones of you that have been on it if you experienced a lot of herx. symptoms initially, and how long I can expect it to last before I start feeling better. I am still doing the baths and the Eco-vie,but am getting more sores, especially on my back. also, should I be taking anything else along with the protocol. I didn't wan't to take anything that may hinder the progress so I could tell exactly what was working and what is not. thanks for any feedback. sandy.

Hi Sandy,

Are you taking your probiotics? Acidophilis? (couldn't spell that without brain fog). For my first few weeks on the protocol I had a low grade fever and some crawling on my back which I hadn't had before. I haven't had a really bad time otherwise though. I know its different for everybody and I think it either has to do with co-infections or the individuals body condition, (ie: predisposed to fungal infections, etc.). I do know that you're not alone in having bad herxs reactions. I think I'm just fortunate that it hasn't been too bad for me.

I'd like to recommend the chewable acidophilus from GNC. Each tablet contains 1 billion organisms and I chew 3 tablets a day.

What kind of herx symptoms are you experiencing? I'll be on the protocol 2 weeks tomorrow and have been EXTREMELY ill -- you can see our discussion about it on the "Progress Reports" threads. I go into detail about what I've been experiencing b/c I was so freaked out. Bubba assured me that it was good news -- and proof that it was really working.

She also suggested that maybe I slow it down a bit, which I have -- I now only take my daily medications once a day. I've also changed my mantra from I want to recover from this "as quickly as possible" to "as gently as possible." I understand the getting worse before getting better part but the last 2 weeks -- for me, but not for others here -- has been unbearable. I understand it gets better with time ...

Also, I guess it's different from person to person, based on our specific symptoms, and our individual bodies. I am VERY sensitive to medication and these meds are VERY STRONG (my doctor's words) -- which may be why my symptoms are more severe than others. If you're comfortable, would you mind sharing your specific herx symptoms? Since treatment is so new, and it effects people so differently, I just think it is SO helpful for all of us to be able to compare notes. Hope things are getting better -- hang in there!
