| Destroying the Lyme Disease Biofilm Using An Ancient Infiltrator For people with relapsing Lyme disease symptoms By Greg Lee Co-founder of the Two Frogs Healing Center Resealable bags protect your food You use resealable plastic bags to keep your food and leftovers fresh. A thick plastic bag sealed at the top prevents any unwanted organisms from spoiling your food. How are resealable bags similar to a chronic Lyme Disease infection? When gathered in a colony, Lyme bacteria are able to create a protective covering to prevent from being killed off. This protective covering is called a biofilm. This biofilm enables the bacteria to seal themselves within a "plastic bag" when they are in danger. This biofilm protects the bacteria from antibodies, antibiotics, and other medicines that will kill it. In theory, the bacteria are believed to be able to lie dormant in their biofilm for months or even years. When conditions are safe again, the bacteria can re-emerge and aggravate symptoms of pain, fatigue, and mental fog. As a result, some people end up struggling with a recurring Lyme Disease symptoms for years, even decades. Many of these people seek the care of a Lyme literate physician. These people may end up receiving many different antibiotics over the course of several years. Antibiotics are believed to stimulate the Lyme bacteria to cover itself with a biofilm. When the bacteria re-emerges, symptoms can flare up bad enough to require hospitalization. How can you stop this cycle of bacteria sealing itself and re-emerging later to aggravate your symptoms? An age old herb shows new promise for cutting through a difficult biofilm In 2006, a 17 year old student in Mississippi used an ancient Ayurverdic herb called terminalia chebula to penetrate the biofilm and kill the pseudonomas bacteria behind cystic fibrosis. Here is the link to the original article: Cogito - Main - Details ContentID=15951 . Her work was also featured in the January/February medicine and health sciences issue of Imagine Magazine published by John Hopkins University. If this herb can cut through the pseudonomas biofilm, can it also penetrate the Lyme bacteria biofilm? Current patients report a reduction in their symptoms when taking this herb When clients take this herb combined with other anti-Lyme herbs and treatment methods, their symptoms are reduced as much as 90% in as little as eight weeks. These results are usually seen in clients that have been infected for about a year or less. In some cases, patients may see an increase in their symptoms due to greater numbers of bacteria being uncovered or killed off in their body. Initially, symptoms may increase when taking these herbs Some patients have reported an increase in symptoms of fatigue and joint pain when starting to take the terminalia chebula herb in their formula. In the beginning, the herb is added at a very low dose so as to minimize any flare up of your symptoms due to greater numbers of bacteria being released. As you get stronger, your symptoms get reduced and the dosage of this herb is increased to cut through any remaining biofilm. This helps your immune system to be more effective at: killing off more bacteria, eliminating harmful toxins, and keeping you healthy and strong. A ancient herb brings new hope for eliminating the symptoms of chronic Lyme Disease Instead of dreading a recurrence of your Lyme Disease symptoms, an ancient herb called terminalia chebula may be able to penetrate the thick resealable plastic bag around the Lyme bacteria. And then antibiotics, anti-Lyme herbs, and your immune system can do their job. Get rid of your Lyme Disease pain, fatigue, and mental fog for good. | Thanks Skylark, that is interesting. I bought some of the powder snd tablets. I know the FDA has a warning out on Ayurvedics from India containg lead but we don't always trust the FDA anyway and I am willing to take a chance if I can speed things up. I am taking 2 Ayurvedics now and one has Terminalia chebula in it.

| TCM, thank you for all the good advice you posted. It is good to have someone who can validate a site or company. I appreciate it. I did buy the powder and capsule form from Amazon. I want to use the powder in lotion or neem oil in addition to what I am doing to speed things up. It is reassuring to see all the research there is on Ayurvedics. For a long time I didn't believe in all this but the more I read, the more my interest is peaked. Although I have always thought that some medications must come from plants. I don't know why I didn't research this stuff earlier. Again, thanks for your help. It is reassuring!! posey

| I wanted to add some more discussion about this herb to the post and wasn't sure it would all fit on one page. Looks as if it does. Glad you found the info useful Posey--there's now more added here that you haven't read. HARITAKI, the HINDU name for the herb terminalia chebula. Be sure to shop around for good prices on all ayurvedic herbs and ayurvedic formulas (same advice applies to TCM herbs and Western herbs). The most economical way to buy haritaki is in bulk as a powder. Amazon has this herb from Bazaar of India (as the vendor) selling currently at $13.25 plus $5.95 shipping. On the Bazaar of India website itself this herb sells for $9.95 per half pound but the site right now is offering free shipping for any purchase. Once buying powdered herbs in bulk it is then easy to buy empty capsules along with a small capsule maker to produce your own capsules. Most health food stores sell them or you can buy these products online (sometimes the empty capsules are much cheaper online, so again shop around for best prices). The initial investment in a capsule maker is an expense but you get to make a lot of capsules both now and in the future for very little money compared to buying an expensive ready made product, particularly those sold by MLM companies. Bazaar of India sells good quality ayurvedic herbs as does Banyan Botanicals. I just found the facebook page for this company. Their prepared herbs are sold under the name VADIK: facebook.com/pages/Bazaar-of-India-Premium-Ayurvedic-Herbal-Products/140107286063585?sk=info. Banyan Botanicals' discussion about the herbs they sell--they mention using organic herbs. Also they are a fair trade company and support sustainable harvesting of herbs (read the home page for that discussion): banyanbotanicals.com/quality-control.html Sometimes other sellers sell herbs from these companies at discounted prices but of course shipping charges need to be taken into account. As with anything these days it pays to shop around for the best deals. Also remember, this herb may or may not agree with your body constitution or symptoms. If you feel worse (beyond a short herx) after using this herb then reassess using it. A little about the properties of the herb Haritaki or terminalia chebula: Properties and Uses: According to Ayurvedic traditions, Haritaki is a Vata pacifying remedy used to treat cough, constipation, nervous disorders, asthma, hemorrhoids, heart disease, diahrrea, digestive problems, skin troubles, itching, edema, menorrhagia, spermatorrhea, tumors, voice and vision disorders, and for the mind in general. It possesses all six tastes except for salty, and is a reputed purgative with traditional use in dysentery and flatulence. The body's enzymes are activated by Terminalia's hot character, helping the plant medicine to dissolve ama. herbies-herbs.com/pages/AyurvedicHerbUses.htm. If you do not have a Vata Dosha (or at least a partial Vata Dosha) using this herb alone could worsen symptoms which is why I hate it when Western medicine attempts to use herbs like Western drugs without considering the constitution of the individual: Vata governs movement in the body, the activities of the nervous system and the process of elimination. Vata influences the other doshas. Qualities of Vata:Cold, light, dry, irregular, rough, moving, quick, changeable If Vata dosha predominates, movement and change are characteristic of your nature. You will tend to always be on the go, with an energetic and creative mind. As long as Vata is in balance, you will be lively and enthusiastic, with a lean body. Physical Characteristics: Those with a predominance of Vata dosha are usually have a thin, light frame and excellent agility. Their energy comes in bursts, and they are likely to experience sudden bouts of fatigue. Vatas typically have dry skin and hair and cold hands and feet. They sleep lightly and their digestion can be sensitive. When the Vata dosha becomes imbalanced, it manifests in the body as weight loss, constipation, hypertension, arthritis, weakness, restlessness, and digestive challenges. Emotional Characteristics: Vatas love excitement and new experiences. They are quick to anger but also to forgive. When Vatas are in balance, they are energetic, creative, and flexible. They also take initiative and are lively conversationalists. When unbalanced, they are prone to worry and anxiousness and often suffer from insomnia. When they feel overwhelmed or stressed, their response is, “What did I do wrong?” chopra.com/vata To read more about a vata constitution banyan botanicals has a large discussion of this on their site including suggestions for diet and lifestyle: banyanbotanicals.com/constitutions/balancing_vata.htm
